XpanD Builds 3D North American Market with United Entertainment Corporation and Camelot Cinemas

XpanD, the international authority in 3D cinemas and technology platforms, has equipped six theaters in the US with digital 3D systems at five Premiere Theatres locations operated by United Entertainment Corporation (UEC) in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Tennessee, and at Camelot Cinemas in Greenville, South Carolina.

Featuring the new XpanD Series 101 3D active glasses, XpanD enabled Camelot Cinemas to convert the single-projector system in its luxurious, 700-seat main auditorium with a giant screen (60 feet wide) to digital 3D - Greenville's exclusive larger format presentation. Correspondingly, the XpanD system empowered UEC’s theater facilities to delight patrons with “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience,” and both Camelot Cinemas and UEC are now showing the newly released “Monsters vs. Aliens” in bright, crystal-clear stereoscopic 3D.

The Camelot Cinemas and UEC installations add two new theater groups to XpanD's North American customer base and signal the company's increased penetration of that market. XpanD already has a commanding lead in the European 3D cinema market where it recently announced business with theater chains Europalaces (France), Finnkino (Finland and the Baltic States) and Xtreme Cinemas (Czech Republic).

“We’re delighted to be working with Camelot Cinemas and United Entertainment Corporation to bring the highest quality 3D cinema experiences to their customers,” says Maria Costeira, CEO of XpanD. “The Camelot Cinemas installation ranks as one of the biggest and best digital 3D environments created to date, demonstrating the ability of our system to deliver superior 3D on a giant screen with a single projector. UEC, in selecting XpanD 3D systems, can now satisfy patrons clamoring for the new wave of 3D titles from Hollywood.”

The announcement is timely as XpanD is exhibiting its full line of 3D cinema products and services at ShoWest, the foremost trade event for the international motion picture industry, currently taking place in Las Vegas, NV.

“The XpanD system has transformed our 700-seat auditorium, with its 60-foot giant screen, into the best 3D presentation I’ve ever seen,” said Camelot Cinemas owner Andrew Reynolds. “XpanD met the challenge beautifully in conformance with just one projector and some of our technical folks have claimed it to be the best 3D they’ve ever seen.”

“UEC is pleased to partner with XpanD in bringing 3D Digital Cinema to our locations. We found the flexibility, ease of installation with no need to change screens and the active glasses technology to be the compelling factors that led us to our decision,” says Mike Davis, Development Manager.

Making great strides to exert the North American marketplace, XpanD now has their new line of products ready for delivery that will further prove the XpanD system is the leading choice in 3D.
