Omek Interactive Announces Game Development for 3D Cameras Utilizing Its Innovative ‘Motion Game System’

Games Feature Both Gesture Recognition and 3D Skeleton Tracking in Real Time, Allowing Players Full Control of 3D Avatars with Natural Body Motion, an Industry First

BET SHEMESH, ISRAEL – 17 March 2009 – Omek Interactive™, a leading creator of games and technology for 3D cameras, today announced it is using its new Motion Game System™ to create original games utilizing 3D cameras. Omek’s proprietary technology translates the raw data from 3D cameras, allowing the player’s natural body motion to control an onscreen character for a gaming experience that is truly active and immersive.

“Tracking the human body in real time has been a landmark goal of computer vision researchers for many years, and Omek built our Motion Game System technology from the ground up to achieve this milestone,” said Janine Kutliroff, CEO of Omek Interactive. “The Motion Game System allows Omek games to engage the mind while exercising the body, providing entertainment with a side effect of improved fitness.”

Omek is currently using the Motion Game System for original games. The current game projects are PC-based, but the Motion Game System is platform and camera agnostic and can be ported to consoles and can interpret data from any infrared-based 3D camera.

Omek’s Motion Game System, which has been developed over the past two years, includes both gesture recognition and real time skeleton tracking technology to provide a complete motion game experience. Gesture recognition allows a player to perform actions such as stretching their arms out to take flight or pushing their hand forward to ‘click’ on an object, with specified gestures triggering preset animations or outcomes. The second component, full skeleton tracking, is an important step forward that allows natural body motion to control a 3D avatar without requiring player animations to be created. The player’s actual body movement is shown onscreen in real time, allowing running, dancing, jumping, punching, kicking, etc. to be utilized seamlessly in gameplay—the player becomes the controller.

Omek will be demoing its games at the upcoming Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA, March 23-27, 2009. For more information or to schedule a viewing, please visit http://www.omekinteractive.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
