Autostereoscopy is true 3d without the need for glasses. It has a standard LCD displaying an image and in front of it one of two options. Either a lens that bends the image so each eye sees a slightly different image. Or a layer with very small slits in it so that each eye sees different parts of the screen. The drawbacks to these methods instead of glasses methods is that they require you to view from a certain angle and distance, or use eye tracking to adjust for your location.
