AMD GPU

Hi,

Considering the good price of the RX 6650 XT, I was wondering if it was a good idea to switch to Amd.

If I understand correctly, like Geforce 3000/4000 series; I can use AMD card with:

Geo-11 ,VK 3d vision and Tridef.

With AMD GPU,I lose the support of the 3dtvplay and 3d video player.

Do Universal Fixes and fixes from Helix mod work ?

And 3dfix manager ? (dead, I guess...)

No. Not yet at least.

No.

Yes, I think (I never used it).

You lose everything directly related to Nvidia 3D Vision.

You may be lucky with some geo-11 fixes, but as a general rule, nope. Zero (not sure about the OpenGL fixes). But geo-11 isn't prepared to work with AMD at this point, and I have seen (at a friend's PC) some important crashes that don't happen with Nvidia. For example some specific compute shaders from the Nioh 2 fix crashing the game on AMD GPUs.

The program itself may work. But if the fixes don't... there's no point in using it.

Thanks for your answers.

It's worse than I expected :(

Out of curiosity, someone tested with Intel Arc ? :)

Based on some investigation I did, it seems the AMD driver handles "Shared Resources between contexts" differently, as the crash I was able to see from some dumps point that way. As to what triggers it or what happens is hard to tell without an AMD GPU and spending some time with their driver to see what is going on.
In theory both AMD and NVIDIA allow resource sharing between different runtime contexts (Vulkan to DirectX11) but I am sure there are some particularities to each vendor.
