Second is better, but it might be due to a different point of view (look at the HUD, the settings seem to be identical)
The popout (out of screen) has more to do with pushing and holding crtl+F6 (and crtl+F5 to decrease it) - until it looks allright. It can be limited by e.g. a dissapearing HUD, or special parts poping out to much (e.g. a weapon)

In your shoots the menue has slightly moved - so there should be either loss of the HUD or a limited popout.

yeah I don't know how to fix that sigh too bad I love that game.
what about this? about 20% separation and a lot more convergence.

the snow effect makes it look so much better. 8)

Nice one :)
But I doubt, you'll be able to actually PLAY the game with that settings
I tried to find good settings for it, but in then I find myself playing it in 2D (no glasses and you're able to click on things...). Otherwise I'd make wrong commands, what'd be desasterous

I dont think I got the inside effect right it doesnt look 3d how much separation and convergence should I have?

You could try Max/high Seperation (crtl+F4) and then adjust Convergence, so that it's comfortable - and 3D!
Doom 3
100% separation and a lot of convergence
I'd call that Inside effect (most of the Scene) with popout (like a Weapon). If the weapon was behind (/at the same level) of the Monitor edges - so just a little less convergence - It'd be a complete inside screen Effect.

Just try out, what you're still able to see and then reduce that, so the eyes don't get tired too fast... I'm shure you'll do quite well :D

Hello there,

thank you very much RAGEdemon for your perfectly clear and useful instructions on how to set stereo3D as optimal; i've got some questions for you, i' playing overa a 8800GTX with 162.50stereo and 169.21 FW drivers, under winxp32 and with a pair of EDim shutterglasses, my screen is a CRT 17" 120Hz; i'm tryin to get the "outside screen" effect with UT3 and Oblivion (also with Crysis but i've got artifacts...) cause when i used to play Q3 stereo i liked this effect very much!, well my problem is that i can't make left image go over the right image and consequently adjust convergence... let me explain, holding down ctrl+F3 make left image move to righ,t but not going beyond the right image (there's no way to go beyond right image, i guess this is when i reach the point of 0% separation), the strange thing is that inside nvidia test application, i can easily adjust separation and convergence to have "pop out" effect as i want; but with these games i can just get "inside" effect, with far object more separate than near ones (which is the most realistic 3D immersion effect!); it feels like convergence point is locked on eyes pov, and i can't make this move inside the screen (so making pop-out effect possible). Well is there a way to make this effect with one of these games?? maybe something inside windows registry?? or in game configs??

thank you so much!
Bye

Hi. Great info. i'm new here and my project is almost finished. Went trough all the pictures and checked them cross eye. Looks fantastic and adds the whole new feeling, realism. I was wandering if i would be able to get such results with my 15" mirror setup geforce 8800GT and iz3d drivers or is this achievable only with nvidia older drivers and up to 7900 series graphics?

Hi venge, very sorry for the late reply... It's been a year, but better late than never I guess :(

What you are describing is what used to happen if any kind of post processing was turned on. You are not seeing 3D, only deep inot the screen. There is no convergence, only seperation.

Unfortunately, 8XXX and after series are not supported by the old nVidia stereo driver.

Please look into the new driver (vista only) or the iZ3D solution, which is my favourite.

I recommend that every new stereo gamer actually finds out how stereo works, for best effect. Also, before starting any game, ALWAYS adjust the convergence and separation settings when playing as by default, they are WRONG 99% of the time.
