gzdoom weapon (hud) depth

Hi there.
This is kind of a special request, I'm hoping someone who creates 3d fixes could also help with this one.
So there are some great modern engines for doom/heretic/hexen out there that actually have stereoscopic support, particularry gzdoom works best right now.
There's only one significant issue. Since the weapons are sprites, they are part of the HUD, which means they are at screen depth. This creates quite an unpleasant feeling since the weapon can be farther in stereo than a wall or door you move up to, or even the ground.
So the solution should be to bring the HUD (and thus the weapons) closer than screen depth.

The problem is (as gzdoom's admin said) the people who worked on the stereoscopic module are long gone.
So maybe this request reaches someone who can work on this now.
