I actually thought about this a few times over the last year. As if we didn't have enough problems already.

hehe another drive is no bother :) I allready have 3 OS installed on multi boot system;

1) Win 7 running driver 425.31 on SSD1
2) Win 10 running driver 452.06 on SSD2
3) Win 10 running latest Nvidia driver for Vulkan3dV and 2D gaming on SSD3, for 3d vision display

Hands down love win 7 for nvidia 3d vision purposes

So Steam (and other game clients) work fine on it, right? I guess as long as the clients work, it should be possible to keep such system running indefinitely, with an image backup for emergencies.

Lysander - yes, all game clients (steam, origin, bethesda, epic etc etc) work 100 % fine with win 7. The only reason why you need win 10 for 3d vision purposes is to play pcsx2 (needs win 10 for "fullscreen" routine and some dx12 stuff (rise of the tomb raider etc - with excellent performance ) and latest nvidia drivers for helifax's 3dvulkan material. This essentially means that for 95% of the existing 3d vision fixes, win 7 is king IMHO.

Have any of your OSs become corrupt over time? I had one PC support person claim that, over time, Windows 10 updates can become confused by multi-boot setups (I remain skeptical). All I know is that, for the THIRD time, the latest Windows 10 OS in my dual-boot setup has become corrupted. It still functions - but I cannot install any OS updates. At this point, it appears that I need to perform a third installation and update of the OS…

No, I have not had any issues at all. In fact, I have never even hear of the problems you mention. But I have 3 separate hard drives, each with its own OS, completely separate from each other.

How strange - I have never heard of windows becoming corrupted over time if there are multiple instals... I too am sceptical.

One thing that will corrupt windows over time is a bad RAM overclock.

A bad CPU overclock will just crash your computer. A bad RAM overclock will slowly destroy all your data...

My corrupted Windows 10 OS still functions normally. Its inability to be updated is the only problem that I am aware of - I can update graphics drivers, load games, and so on. However, this problem appears to have created a new problem today. My PC startup boot screen disappeared (used to switch between OSs). I was only able to recover this boot screen (and BIOS access) by physically disconnecting the "working" OS disk drive from the motherboard, forcing the boot process to restart and allow access to the other OS and disk drive, then reconnecting the drive. I can access both OSs again, but I still cannot update one OS, and do NOT want to update the other OS.

After rebuilding this OS the last time (same problem - unable to update, with at least one corrupted .NET library), it worked perfectly. However, it stopped being able to be updated over the last two months or so. Windows troublershooters do not fix the problem, nor do Restore Points, nor any utilities like DISM. PC CPU is overclocked, but RAM is clocked using stock speed.

The magic bullet which will fix 99% of all windows problems is an "in-place upgrade" using the "Media Creation tool" from an external disk. Best to disconnect all other discs and installs while this takes place...

FWIW, I am on the absolute latest windows build, fully updated, and 3DV works flawlessly.

My PC's tech support suggested that I might try disabling Windows hibernation, as another potential source of degradation, using a Command Prompt (Admin) or Powershell (Admin) command (powercfg -h off).
