Vorpx vs 3Dvison

Because of GPU prices touching the sky, I'm able to get RTX 2080 at around 1700 usd in my country.
So I'm thinking of purchasing 3080ti next month and buying a Oculus Quest 2. Now most of the 3d games in 3d vision are also listed on VorpX.
I wanted feedback in comparison with 3d vision, is it real stereo 3D but using VR?

Not 100% sure but it seems the games listed on Vorpx website use real 3D. There are even more compatible games but they are zDepth 3D only.

While Vorpx is a great stereo 3D driver it lacks of a dedicated community fixing stereo effects. So for most real 3D games I tested with Vorpx I had either broken stereo 3D effects or they were simply turned off. For example Battlefield 4 had broken shadows while in Witcher 3 shadows were simply auto-disabled by VorpX. It's probably better to use Vorpx in z3D mode only therefore.

Please note that RTX 3080 TI is not compatible to 3D Vision DX11 games any more.

Oh I sold last year in August my 2080ti for 700usd, now only getting new for 1700 usd.
Cant find any second hand 2080ti anywhere, every time find a second hand deal the seller cancels for some reason or other.

Is there any alternate solution to use with VR to get same stereo effect like of 3D vision?

PS-I'm aware the new cards don't support 3d vision!

Bo3b and me are currently working on SuperDepth3D support for HelixVision. It's z3d solution, great performance and looks close to 3D Vision on the virtual screen.

Bo3b posted an early version of it here: https://discord.com/channels/3054724039 ... 1812503563
HelixVision can be bought here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1127310/HelixVision/

I'm in the same boat. Waiting on a 3080. Wishing I could get a 2080 ti as well (at a reasonable price) for 3d vision patches.

I use Vorpx almost daily. And pretty much exclusively for playing games in 3D on a big virtual screen (ie. not in VR). It works flawlessly with a handful of games in G3D (proper, not Zmap). So I've been playing those. But yes, most of the games that have issues in 3D that are fixed in 3DVision by Helix patches will have those issues in Vorpx, sadly.
Shadows are the main culprit, and are frequently just turned off.

It's a damn shame there's not some way to transfer all the hard work from the 3D Vision fixes to another application like Vorpx. I have no understanding of how it's done of course, but obviously Vorpx could benefit greatly if there was some way of porting those fixes across. The fact that all this hard work has been sabotaged by Nvidia is disappointing. Also for the fact that newer games won't work eventually (eg. dx12), and older games that don't run great would benefit greatly from newer GPU power.

Maybe some of the 3D geniuses here will defect to Vorpx or something similar eventually. For me, the Reverb G2 finally made it so the resolution of the hmd screen is now high res enough to warrant spending hours playing games that look great, clear and don't have the screen door effect. Not to mention the size of the screen your brain is fooled into thinking you're looking at. Every time I throw Rocket League up I'm still blown away, honestly.

As far as I know, shaders in DX9 games can be fixed with vorpX (I don't have a VR headset so I don't know the details about how it can be done). But not for other APIs.
I hope there can be a way to save our 3D fixes somehow, but at least they can serve as documentation about how to fix specific games for possible future ways of converting games to 3D/VR.

I have already played most of the AAA games before selling my 2080ti last year, like Metro Exodus, Witcher 3, etc etc
I researched on youtube 1660ti is giving well 85-90fps in doom eternal and wolfenstien 2 which is more than enough for me.
i just want to play the games which have been recently fixed.

So I'm planning to temporary buy a 1660ti for 1440p gaming. It works with 3d vision right?
Or Should I go with 2080 Super, as 2080 ti is1700-1800 usd.

Update I ordered a brand new 2080 Super, yay!

So my 2080 super came, in 3d vision manager it shows ir emitter not connected and while running setup wizard 3d vision usb controller driver is not installed clicking on next after first page.
Driver version is 452.06 3d driver I installed with 3d vision manager,3d driver it shows 425.31.
Please help! My ir is connected and shows power when switching on pc, but when desktop loads stays off!
While launching applications in 3d, 2 images appear, but monitor doesn't change brightness like it used to when switched 3d and emitter stays off. I am able to turn on 3d vision from 3d manager only but shows ir not connected.
Unpluggin and plugin back ir emitter usb the emitter flashes 4-7 times and then goes off.
I unintalled with ddu and re-installed, dint change annything. My window version is 19042.928

Update- I solved this by manually extracting and installling ir emitter usb driver form 425.31 package. Why wasnt it not installed by 3dvision manager and said not required.
Anyways thanks!
