did you guys know, that weapon fov and world fov could be set separately?
my favorite game, thousand hours of play, and I just now found out it can be done like in fallout 3/4, wtf.. :( :( :(
this means another run of the game :P

Actually no, I've also played extremely many hours, and I never get really tired of it, mods adds alot to the fun, I have 973 active plugins now :P

Well then, lets hear the secret ?

just follow 3 steps :)

Step 1: Change FOV setting ingame.
Launch the game and load your most recent save.
Press "~" button to open the command console and set fov what you want your weapon FOV to be.
(Yes, this will change your World FOV too, but ignore that for now.)
Close the console, save your game and quit.


Step 2: Change FOV setting in a configuration file
Open Skyrim.ini located in .../Documents/My Games/Skyrim Special Edition/
Inside Skyrim.ini, at the end of "[Display]" section, add this line:
fDefaultWorldFOV=###
Replace ### with what you want your World FOV to be (NOT the hands).
Delete fDefault1stPersonFOV and fDefaultFOV settings (if present) from the .ini file to avoid conflicts. Also make sure fDefaultWorldFOV setting isn't present anywhere else in the file.
Save changes you've made to Skyrim.ini and close the file.


Step 3: Trigger changes ingame
Launch the game again and load save you created during Step 1.
Open and close "Character Menu" (default button is Tab).

As soon as Character Menu is opened, you should see World FOV reset to what you've set in Skyrim.ini, while your Viewmodel FOV will stay the same as you've set in console earlier.

save your game once again to save the FOV changes, and have fun!

Wow - That was VERY detailed, I do know "all" about the console and ini's, but others might find that part useful, so thanks I'll try it out, particular in FO4 it could be a gamechanger, I mostly play Skyrim in 3'rd person, because it enhances the whole scenery on screen :)
(hmm.. wonder if it also works in FO3)

The latest wow in mods - Complex Parallax terrain textures, designed for ENB but does work without it, and in glorious 3D :woot

These are flat ground textures - take a closer look...

there is a nice mod for FO3 for adjusting weapon fov right in the game on hotkeys

I wasn't able to stereoize the parallax occlusion mapping that some mods used, so the fact that this new thing is working for you, means that it's different in how it was made. Probably stereoized by the specular reflections regex I made.

No.. but Skurkbro's textures works also very well, the ones I refer to is from Mysterious Dawn, this is one of them https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ?tab=files

To make it work without ENB, first you must install this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... mods/31963 and then overwrite it with this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... posts&BH=0

But it would be much better/ consistent if we could use ENB.

Just a little heads up from the Skyrim modding scene..

Doodlum who also created Vanilla Pom (for complex parallax terrain non ENB), has made an even bigger thing - actually it's HUGE :)

It's called "Community shaders" https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ?tab=files , the purpose is to use Reshade instead of Enb for all the fancy stuff like grass light(done), grass physics(done), Enb light(upcomming) and much more.
It will take some time to reach it's end goal, but it's getting better by the day, and the performance costs is close to zero !

The advantages for us should be obvious for every one :woot :woot :D

@masterotaku I do hope that you'll have a look at it at some point, so far there's no real 3D issues, but if you activate "Sky" under the point "Replace original shaders" it breaks your fix and the skybox is no longer in the right depht...

Warning this might get ugly :P

@masterotaku you made one of the very best fixes with the updated fix for Skyrim, but as I wrote in my latest post, a new and very big thing is the Community shaders, they look and function much like Enb, but.. we can use them - there's no conflicts with 3DV, further more it's very lightweight.
Now there's plenty of the well known "Enb effects" all I miss yet is the Enb light, the lates is the Screen space shadows and Water blending https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... mods/95145 which looks AWESOME, but after the latest update, some of the shaders from the fix is broken :(

@masterotaku I'm literally begging you to have a look at the broken shaders if and when you get the time, with these shaders and some great textures, Skyrim looks stunning even compared with todays finest titles :woot

You have some issues that I havent seen so far. But I also dont have the anniversary edition. Didnt sound like its a good upgrade.

Did you try to delete the regexed shaders and start over with cache?

I actually tried your recommended Skyland and it did make a nice difference. Thanks for those recommendations.

Enhanced Light and FX so far gave me the best looking nights but during day it is not really doing the game justice. Also have to add that with OLED nights have become much more enjoyable. One issue that stands out is that shadows are too dark with the godrays. Only reason why I want ENB is for the lighting since this in itself makes the best improvement on the game. Enhanced Light and FX atleast creates a very immersive night where torches are really emphasized and needed like in real life. And especially in caves. Bethesda's lighting is terrible! OR lets just say it aged terrible...

@Lizzard You got it wrong, I don't use the AE version, anyway that's not the culprit here, it's called "Community shaders" https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ?tab=files
That mod replaces many shaders, and thats what breaks masterotaku's fix, So I had to skip it for now....

Have you tried Lux, imo that's by far the best interior lighting mod, and also the best patched... But it's far to dark without an Enb...
So you also need "Dynamic Display Settings" https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... mods/11085 with that you can change light/contrast and much more settings in any location, outdoor there's several settings for day-dusk-night-dawn so you can have a light day and dark night as you prefer, and this way you can also trim your settings in every interior location differently if you like, the mod will save your settings !
