3 new 3D gamers video projectors with 1080p@ 120Hz

Post by Guig2000 »

In this early 2019, while out of VR S3D is abandoned by everybody, there is some good news for us, stereoscopic fans:
3 new full HD 3D projectors are now available on the market.
And they can display 60 stereoscopic pairs per second.
Until now if you wanted a 1080p 3d @60fps capable projector, you needed to go for a much expensive 4k 3d projector or to choose the optoma hd27hdr. But it is not available worldwide.

Now there is the 3 new projectors:
[*]Optima HD29H, which seems very similar to the hd27hdr.
[*]The acer V6520
[*]The acer NITRO G550

The HD29H have good reviews
The acer V6520 a bit less bright but have better colors.
The acer NITRO G550 have not still been reviewed.

All 3 have are 120Hz full HD DLP projectors, and have a very low 8.3/8.4ms input lag when using 120hz.
Making them the ideal gaming projectors.

Nice.

What software do you use to get 60fps at 1080P?

I thought Nvidia 3DTV Play only did 24Hz.

Good question.
So maybe I'm too much enthusiast.
Currently, I don't: I wait that the G550 is reviewed. After that, I plan to choose and bought one.
... And I've a vega64 so , wait and see.

When I saw that this projectors have hdmi 2 input chip and 1080p 120Hz + full HD 3D, I understood 60fps 1080p3D, but indeed, 120Hz frame packed support is not explicit.

According to user manual, it HD29H have no 3Dvision certification , so without edid hack, it will indeed run in 3Dtv play mode, @ 24fps at best, an EDID hack should be needed for better.
Optoma user manual list only hdmi 1.3 and 1.4a resolution but the projector have a hdmi 2 input, so the user manual seems incomplete.
When displaying 1080p24fps 3D, the projector use triple flash, so runs effectively at 144Hz.

I was thinking that Acer projectors are 3Dvision certified, but in fact they are only 3D TVplay, so edid hack is also needed.
Acer projectors supports frame sequencial 3D @ 120Hz.
24Hz3D can be double (96Hz) or triple (144Hz) flash (set by user).
Wow ok this time the confusion is perfect!!
Optoma did it again... they named the projector differently depending on the country you live.

America: Optoma HD27HDR
Asia: Optoma HD27H (not sure about that, : HD29H is listed in India.)
Europe: Optoma HD29H

In fact all this projectors are build by Optoma on the same base.
They look very similar on the photos.
