If yes then you might just get your wish eventually if tests by the National Football League prove successful. Next week sees a proof of concept 3D Live broadcast to theatres in the Los Angeles, New York and Boston with the game between the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders being shown to a select few hundred guests (by invitation only, sorry guys).
3ality Digital LLC will shoot the game in 3-D via their specialist cameras and upload to a satellite at which point Thomson SA's Technicolor Digital Cinema will download the digital link to the said theatres were Real D 3D Inc will display the content. Interestingly the test next week will also incorporate transmission to standard 3-D TVs showing what is possible with today's technology.
Michael Lewis CEO of Real D 3D Inc was quoted as saying "We look forward to giving fans of live events the opportunity to feel like they're in the front row". Here's hoping it's sooner rather than later. Hit the read URL link for more info in the full article, enjoy.
