I kind of wish we could make the distinction between AR (Google glass, HUDs, 2D additions to the world, mainly data and overlays, “head-tracking” doesn’t apply) and MR (Hololens and Magic Leap and Meta, 3D additions to the world that understand and respect depth and surfaces, head-tracking implemented, often 3D polygon constructs, often stereoscopic 3D). We all know what VR is, but in my opinion AR puts people in mind of something much more rudimentary than what Magic Leap, Hololens, Meta, etc. have in store, so MR (Mixed Reality) would be a better moniker.
