Hi everyone,

We’re an R&D team from China, and we’d like to introduce our product, the Depth-VR Virtual Holographic System. Depth VR is a 3D system that uses head tracking to deliver an unparalleled 3D experience. We’ve done a huge amount of optimizations to traditional head-tracking systems, so using Depth VR, you can experience something as realistic as a holographic image.

(Watch our demo on Youtube: ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qh1s8HacZns

Depth VR is made up of two hardware components, an infrared tracking device placed on top
of your display, and special glasses for accurate head tracking.

• Glasses: 3D glasses equipped with an infrared-emitting device. The glasses have two versions of Color Cast 3D (for general display devices) and polarized 3D.

• Infrared Tracking Device: placed on top of the display, and able to track glasses within 0.1 meters to 3 meters distance, tracking adjusts the display in real-time so users can see 3D objects from different angles. With even the tiniest head movements, you will see different angles and details of the scene.

Depth VR now supports multiple 3D engines (Unity 3D/OpenGL/DX/Ogre) and has a very easy to use SDK for developers. It is also cross-platform, supporting Windows, Mac, and Ubuntu.

We’ll be launching our project on Kickstarter on November 19th, and would love to have your support. Let us know if you have any questions or comments about Depth VR.

Hey Great Breakthrough!!
Here few questions regarding your product......Not exactly holographic as holograms expected to be free from display (hologram is meant where there is no visible display!)
I indeed found really interesting. :)

1.Are you planning to support stereo depth?

2.Will this transmitter and IR glass combo work with any monitor or it will require special monitors like 120Hz or something?
I still find it more like AMAZON FIRE PHONE kind of 3D where 3D is actually isometric perspectivish rather then full stereo depth.

3.What are you planning polarized glasses for? Is it kind of support for polarized 3D TVs like LG? Will they work any way with No-3D Tvs?

4.Will this system going to support touch on non touchscreen display?
Though perspective transition is really very very smooth touch is kind of less responsive.

How is your product different from similar approach for '2D to 3D' made by NINTENDO and not exactly clone of this tech?

Thanks for your support, we're happy you like Depth-VR!

Here are the answers to your questions:
1. Yes, we are planning on supporting stereo depth
2. No, Depth-VR will not require a special monitor; you can use it with any screen
3. The polarized glasses will work with non-3D screens
4. A touch screen display is not required. The touch features are handled by the motion detector

If you have any more questions about Depth-VR, we would be more than happy to answer them.

Hi,

Great to see progress being made in this area with Depth VR.

Nintendo VR and Depth VR are very similar to this concept published in 2009 in the MTBS forums.

The Wii Hammer - Wii Remote 6 DOF Motion Controller.

http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4251

The six-degree-of-freedom all optical tracker proposed then predates Nintendo's 'invention' priority date by 12 months.

Yes, of course its compatible with stereo glasses.

LEAP motion controls weren't invented then but they are compatible too.

One thing so far missing with Depth VR.

Casual reading glasses to bring some convincing accomodation focus to the screen.

Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you so much for your feedback and interest in Depth VR. We just wanted to let you know that our Kickstarter campaign has just launched. (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nc ... our-screen) As an early bird backer, you can get a considerable discount.

Depth VR takes the headtracking 3D concept to the next level by making it inexpensive and easy for consumers to access. There's no need to buy a wii and hack it to get this effect.

Thank you for your support, and please let us know if you have any more questions.

I backed it for the full set, but I was a little disappointed that there wasn't an option to use Nvidia 3D Vision (or other shutter glasses).

I went with the anaglyph option for now, I will see if I can mod them to work with active glasses.
