Rift DK1 with HMZ T1 Optics, has anyone done this?

Well, I have my DK2 pre order in since it was announced. I have an HMZ and a DK1 just sitting around, I thought it would make a fun project. Anyone done this?

The optics in each device are optimized for parameters of their displays - most significantly size.

Even if it worked somehow, why would you take the device with the lower resolution (the Rift) and combine it with the device which has the lower FoV?

Or do you mean take the entire display chain of the HMZ, shove it in the Rift for ergonomic reasons and take advantage of the Rift's head tracking?

Well for ergonomic reasons since I still play PS3 and the HMZ is a mid evil torture device. I want to use the DK1 shell to put the HMZ into and its higher rez. I'm not an expert on this guys. I thought it would be a fun project.

Probably better off hacking some skimask for that purpose than tearing up the rift.

It's not going to work. They are totally different designs.
