TechCrunch recently hosted the Disrupt New York 2014 hackathon, during which there was a demonstration given by two dudes. Over a period of 24 hours, these guys found a way to turn a smartphone into a 3D capture device as well as a viewer.

The thing that converts live images on the fly to a stereoscopic view is pretty cool, I think!

These guys even have a website (3dioo.com) that has pics and info so you can build your own.
