nVidia 3D Wizard fried my Acer X1261P???

Post by The_Nephilim »

Hey Everybody,

I had some good news today I received my 3rd and final Projector for my 3D Setup.. Well I spent a few hours getting 2D Surround working. I finally got that working and went to run the nVidia 3D wizaard and it went into 1920x1080 resolution and my Screen went Green..

I ended up plugging in a older DVI Monitor I have and the resolution was at 1920 x 1080 funny the Projector can ONLY do 1280x720.. Well I reset the Resolution and plugged in the Projector and it was just a bunch of Green and orange bars horisontally..

I am unsure but I think it fried it somehow I tried resetting it and turning it off but no luck. I think it went poof and I am now in the market for Monitors as for some wierd reason nVidia wants to default to some wierd high resolutions that my Projectors dont support..

I had a heck of a time getting surround working. when I enabled surround the resolution was at 1600x1200 for the single monitor luckily I was able to get into Resolution and chnge it and it worked but when I went in to the 3D Wizard it must have zapped something..

I am unsure what to do but I think I am done with buying Projectors till they come out with a higher res and in 3D..

I found a solution I had to disable the 3D Vision in the Projector and was able to get the screen to appear.. I then modified the registry to enable the 3D vision and voila a Triplescreen setup that works..

Heck and it only took 12 hours to setup ;)

Yes I am very glad I figured it out. but you want to know something Cyber it was very frustrating to get it working..

I had even called NVidia in California and the guy there could NOT even figure it out.. IT is pretty bad when they guys who made this stuff don't even know how it works..

He threw in the towel after 30mins.. heck I labored for 12 long frustrating hours..

But I still Love 3D Surround and its qwerks but this was almost a train wreck of epic proportions..

Yeah, once you start doing too many weird things at once you end up in No Man's Land.

I had a pretty grueling few days trying to get Metro: Last Light working in both Nvidia 3D Vision and SLI. Eventually got it working, but it was a pain.

3D worked fine, w/ no SLI. SLI worked fine, no 3D. Together it just crashed on start. Turns out I had to unplug the Rift to get it working. How strange.

hey let me ask you Cyber. when you run the 3D Wizard on your Rift does the resolution scale to high or do you know what res it goes too..

I ran it the other day and I am afraid to rerun it if needed to setup the 3D, I think it scaled to 1920x1080 and I do NOT want to really fry my projector..

Just curious if it was perhaps a glitch?? because after it did that I lost all my settings in triple because I had to hardreboot.. Ackkkkk!!!!!

Ahh the life we have with this tech, you post all the cool videos of our gear in action and people only see the green grass not all the sweat, Labor and Frustration in setting up this stuff..

Lets GO CASTAR!!

I can't run 3D Wizard on the Rift, it's not supported. But the Rift can safely handle up to 1920x1200.

Hmmm OK How do you get 3D Enabled on the Rift isn't it supposed to be 3D compatible??

The Rift primarily works with natively implemented games.

There are also a few drivers that have support (Vireio, VorpX, TriDef) but NOT Nvidia.

OH my isn't that a bit of a drawback.. Not many games are natively supported :(

I had a bit of a setback not a setback but need to purchase more software to Correct My Hardware misalignment.. I have to get nThusim Plus Edition. which is going to set me back a bit.. but gonna be worth every penny as I am thinking of going to a Curved Screen and bigger too..

This is going to be cool. I am still in the planning stage of the curved screen.. I am going to use 1/4 MDF Panels for the surface and paint it with Black Widow mix..

I am going to think how Big I want to make the screen. Altho the current size is sufficient I figure why not go big I have the capability altho I have some Long throw Projectors but I can always go with a Rear Projection system..
