Re: Crysis1
Does VorpX have a mechanism for recording screenshots?
It would be good if people could share images from games to illustrate problems and successes.
Regards,
Neil

Re: Crysis1
Shadows are still messed up, as is the case with Nvidia and other drivers. Only ones that got shadows to work were Vuzix, IIRC.

Re: Crysis1
I disagree - I do not see any problems with shadows - I'm playing with everything maxed out.cybereality wrote:Shadows are still messed up, as is the case with Nvidia and other drivers. Only ones that got shadows to work were Vuzix, IIRC.
I have a 580gtx sli system - and crysis1 is out of the box - the original german release version from 2007 - (not patched or updated) - see screenshot (ALT + PRINT)
i use DX10 render and Z-Buffer mode
i love it - thank you very much ralph !!!

Re: Crysis1
You are in Z-Buffer mode, that's why you don't have problems with shadows. Also the stereoscopy must be set quite low or even disabled because I fail to see any depth there.FR3D wrote:I disagree - I do not see any problems with shadows - I'm playing with everything maxed out.

Re: Crysis1
I think Fredz and Cybereality meant that there is no 3d-depth in the pictures. The left and right views are similar. I can not see any depth in those shots either. If the horisontal parallax is shifted it may give a slight illusion of depth to some people. It's however still not 3d.

Re: Crysis1
Maybe this anyglyph screenshot from the dev version can help to settle this little dispute. This is the kind of 3D you can expect form Z-Buffer 3D (strength at ~2/3). Not as natural/strong as the Geometry Mode, but a far cry from no 3D. Also no shader/shadow-artifacts and twice as fast.

Re: Crysis1
Yes Ralph - i like it - crysis1 is a shooter, so you do not need so much foreground 3d than in e.g. skyrim.MaterialDefender wrote:Maybe this anyglyph screenshot from the dev version can help to settle this little dispute. To use the weapon in crisis1 with use of the iron sights without any 3d problems is fun - very very cool.

Re: Crysis1
@MaterialDefender: That image on the other hand have depth.
Crysis may be a good example of a game where the z-buffer trick is better than geometry because of all the anomalies that usually are present in crysis. On the other hand i personally find this kind of rendering quite boring in the long run. Everyones taste is different though.

Re: Crysis1
I'm usually not really focused on the kind/strength of the 3D effect when I really PLAY a game. So for me that works well in general. Low framerates and thus laggy head tracking I find much more distracting.
But as you say, everyones taste is different. And anything else would be terrible.

Re: Crysis1
I wasn't arguing that VorpX couldn't do 3D on Crysis. I've played it, it's in 3D.
However, those images FR3D posted are not in 3D. Maybe his settings are wrong.

i like it ... lots of parallax ...
rename it to *.cfg and copy it to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis
to post *.cfg is not allowed here !?
works well with win7 64 ultimate 580gtx sli
vorpx with DX10 render and Z-Buffer mode
i'm sure you will like it too ...
you are right - my screenshots are junk !
