Acer X1261P Not turning on??

Hey All,



I seemed to have run into a slight problem. My Acer X1261P will not turn on and the On Button Flashes 2 blue, 1 long red and according to the manual it could indicate a bulb malfunction or Color Wheel.. Now I am thinking something's amiss with the bulb or do you all think it could be a dead projector..



It does seem to want to turn on the fans all spin just the bulb will not light up.. and after a few tries the On button flashes 2 blue and 1 red long.. IS this a dead bulb and the projector should still be OK??

My guess is that it's not possible to see without opening the projector and see how it behaves. Is the bulb somewhat "clear" or dark gray/black (sometimes they can pass away with a big bang at end of life and possibly damage the projector)? Does the colorwheel spin? It should be possible to open it up enough to see these events though. I'm not sure how much you know about electronics and stuffs so i will also include a warning: Don't touch any live parts in the projector, especially around the lamp. Just observe what happens. Also: Keep it clean if you open up the projector!

Hi Well I can take the bulb out but I thought it would not power up at all with the bulb out.. I will give it a try and see if the color wheel is spinning..

I am experienced enough with electronics to know NOT too touch things.. I learned that at an early age..

Well I pulled the top cover off to have a look inside.. It appearted to be all OK the color wheel spins but the bulb did not light up.. so I am just hoping the bulb somehow is dead. either it is the bulb that is dead or it is not getting power.. I sure just hope it is the bulb..

If it have run too hot there could be a tripped thermofuse attached to the bulb transformer. Usually the projector always turns itself off before this happens though so it's really not a worthy tip.
If you have several projectors, even if the projectors aren't the same brand and the lamps exactly the same you can probably still test if the suspicious projector can lit up a lamp from one of the other pj's. Just watch that the lamptypes are similar (close to same wattage and same working principle, usually high pressure mercury lamp). You may need to extend he lamp connectors and run the lamp outside the projector for the test.
It's kinda expensive to buy a new lighter just to confirm a broken projector...

Well I have no other projectors to test the bulb on.. This is the only thing I can think of to test the current Projector is too buy a new bulb expensive yes but you always need bulbs..

If it does not fire up I will try and locate a Acer Service center and send it there to see how much to get it repaired...

Well Luck shown in my Favor. it turns out the old bulb was dead.. I installed the new one and Voila works like it was brand new..
