Ahahaha. No.

There should be ban on talking about it on these forums and the oculusVR forums though. Those threads are pretty obscene and could give the Rift a bad name.

My apologies for the grammar dig then, I'm sure I don't speak your language well :)
Maybe create your own product though, or vote with your cash. Banning things you don't agree with doesn't usually work as well as you might hope.

With an openly available platform like the Oculus SDK, OculusVR has no control over what's done with it. The joy of being a pc/mac/linux developer is that you can make whatever the hell you want. OculusVR can't stop anybody from making anything. They don't have that power with the way their SDK is set up.

I think banning porn would be one of the worst things any company could do.
The porn industry is the driving force behind mass market acceptance, you don´t believe me?

Here are some consumer acceptance battles that have been decided by the porn industry:
VHS V.S. Betamax = Winner VHS. Why? Porn was more widely available on VHS than on Betamax.
Blu-ray V.S. HD DVD = Winner Blu-ray. Why? The porn industry did choose blu-ray as it´s new medium.

Here is some awesome tech that only is so widely available and cheap because of porn:
Online Payment Systems
Streaming Video Services
Live Chats
Broadband
3G Mobile Services
Traffic optimization
Cheap Camcorders
The Internet itself

As you can see porn is a giant driving force when it comes to innovation.
If the porn industry decides the Rift is the next big thing, then the Rift is going to be a success for sure.

How does other people watching pornography, if they choose to do so, harm anyone?
What's next? "i think oculus should only distribute rifts to people who are baptised in the catholic church ..."

I'm sorry, but I really have no tolerance for people like you who sit on their high horse thinking they have a right to interfere with peoples personal lives. FU

Electro-what?

Pornophobic Rifters? It takes all kinds, I guess. But campaigning to make their fear the state religion is a bit over the top.

@AussieMike - Maybe tone it down a bit. I don't agree with his stance, but it's HIS opinion, based on HIS values not mine (and obviously not yours either). Your response is somewhat hypocritical itself, because you are essentially saying that because you don't agree with it (his opinion), it should not be allowed; this seems immature and unintelligent.

I think, to each their own. This is essentially an entertainment device, so you could argue that the majority of uses aren't really of benefit to humanity. Playing games usually doesn't really benefit anyone except the developers and distributors, so it becomes a bit of a blur as to where the line should be. If it's not hurting anyone, let them go with it.

But if we banned rift porn, we'd miss out on such gems as the inevitable sequel to this:

i think playing games is good, it entertain people. gaming is good, but like every other thing, if we do it too much, that wont be good. cheap HMD can contribute in other field. porn will lead people to the most unnatural things on earth. :P im ready to take some more hotsteams now :D

@android78 - There is a difference between having an opinion, like "game x is better than game y", and having an opinion on what other people should or shouldn't do (like, people with red hair shouldn't be allowed to ride busses) if they're not harming anyone and they do it in the privacy of their own home.

If you can't understand that difference, then it's you who seem immature and unintelligent to me.

To each his own - I 100% agree with you on that, and yes I do acknowledge I lost my temper and I apologize for that if my post offended other readers, but like you say - "to each his own", and "porn should be banned because I believe it's immoral" is 100% the opposite of "to each his own".

I think people who stick their pointy noses into other peoples business should be shut down immediately, for the greater good and for world peace. Saying "thats ok dude, you have a right to dictate what other people do in their lives based on your personal views" doesn't help anyone, including the OP

there are experts out there who says that pornography has big negative impact on society, increasing rape cases, child sex abuses.

All of these reports are talking about the effects of porn on children. Obviously there should be parental controls in place for this stuff. However, based on my personal experience, there were no adverse effects due to early access to porn. I first stumbled across porn on the internet when I was ~10 and my sex life is pretty standard (probably too standard  ).

Even if they wanted to, I don't think Oculus can enforce what kinds of content are created on their devices. That would be like TV manufacturers placing a ban on porn. Not possible.

Of course if Oculus were to create an official VR app store of some sort, I would probably expect them to ban or otherwise restrict access to porn content.

Mate, if you don't like porn then just don't watch it. It really is that simple!

I won't continue this argument with you any further - it would be like trying to convince a chauvinist that women should have equal pay for equal work.
No doubt your views are strong and unchangable, but so are mine, so it would be pointless. But, do us all a favour and save it for sunday school champ ;)

pornography negatively affects adults too. we can find tons about this on internet

pornography causes unequivocal harm to society by increasing rates of sexual assault
Effects of Prolonged Consumption of Pornography reported a review of controlled studies which found that extensive viewing of the type of pornographic material commonly sold at adult bookstores was positively correlated with leniency in the sentencing of a person convicted of rape in a mock trial setting (figure 5), decreased satisfaction of participants with their sex lives and partners (figure 10), and an increased self-reported willingness to commit rape or other forced sexual acts

If you don't like something, then don't buy it.

Banning particular content (porn or otherwise) just seems like trying to push your ideology onto other people.

They only try to block childpornography worldwide, and for a good reason obviously.
If they block regular porn in some countries it's due to that specific countrys laws and regulations.
You very naive if you don't think m$ and google are making money off of the pornindustry.

What is bad on sex / porn ?
I'm sure you are the result of this "bad" ...
everybody is doing it - it's like eating and breathing -
if you want to prevent really something bad - you will have to ban war/weapons/crime/pollution and destroying of the world ... first ...

.

childpornography. the perpetrator is adults. as I quote from the expert, "Sexual Deviation as Conditioned Behavior: A Hypothesis, R.J. McGuire found that the viewing of pornography can serve as a source of a paraphilic "vivid sexual fantasy" which, when contemplated during masturbation, may condition men into perversion"

some may say ' i watch porn and i am ok", maybe you are right, but there are also many people who commit crime because extensively watching porn. these are not my words, these are words of experts.

and we should ask ourself why some countries banning porn.
