awessssssssssooooomeeee!!!!

stereo3d enabled cards from AMD (I assume for shutterglasses, anaglyph, hmd, projectors, etc)

and the best news for me: autodesk is adding stereo3d support to all it's pipeline like 3ds max and maya!!!
(though unclear if just anaglyph)

wohoooo!!!

a real good read- the world is waking up to stereo3d!!

well it says:
But the good parts were the new Stereoscopic tools that are coming out for all of Autodesk's products
I just hope iz3d monitors are on the list. But even anaglyph is good news.

There has been quad buffer support before, even with stereo output on some cards. The question is, will that stereo output work for directx as well as openGL? QB Stereo support has been there all along, but only with applications that support it. We would be hoping for AMD/ATi to release universal drivers so there can be 3d stereo support for both DirectX and OpenGL, with any hardware solution. Oh, and we'll know when AMD/ATi bring S3D to the general public, not only FireGL or FirePro cards will have stereo output, low end cards will have it too. Besides, not every person dedicated to CGI/design/etc. can afford a FireGL/FirePro card.

On another matter, I've been waiting to hear from iz3D in Siggraph.

I mean what could be more awesome than having 3d geometry appear at the click of a button and having the ability to create anything out of thin air :) 3ds max/maya will become sorts of God-simulators. No offence to god of course- he still is the owner of the greatest source code of them all.

Stereoscopic 3D is here to stay - report from SIGGRAPH

...Right now, NVIDIA has the distinction of having the recommended stereoscopic driver of choice. The driver is supported by most newer NVIDIA graphics cards and works with mostly all of the hardware solutions on the market. The driver “works by intercepting DirectX and OpenGL programming calls, and translates the virtual 3D information into a practical stereoscopic result.
Did I miss something. I thought the new driver only works with the Zalman monitor ???

Or maybe it's a hint on what we saw on the 'bugged' driver? New S-3D outputs for 3D DLPs and older stuff are already getting into it...

will believe it when I see it. I no longer give anything good said about nvidias stereodrivers the benefit of the doubt.

Well spoken. Rumors, hearsay, hints, "might", "possible in the future" there is much too much of regarding the Nvidia 3D driver.

They misquoted me. The presentation talked about how the NVIDIA driver began as the recommended driver of choice, and additional options came to market. While I was complimentary, they misunderstood my statement.

LOL. But they wouldn't announce it on their website unless concrete release plans were in place. Their stock has already taking a beating so they really don't want to announce something and then not deliver.

Well, I also heard that the Zalman driver only works under Vista, but with me it works fine under XP as well..
