A hardware hacker by the name Emeryth has worked out how to connect an iPad Retina screen to a PC via a Display Port cable.
More information here: http://emerythacks.blogspot.com.au/2013 ... to-pc.html
He is running it at full 2048x1536 Resolution and it only cost him $55 for the screen.
Would it be possible to use a screen of this size, 9.7" for a HMD?

This topic already has multiple threads. Do we need another one. It would be better to continue this topic in an existing and active thread. Here is one of them (a cross-post, also by you):greymatr wrote:A hardware hacker by the name Emeryth has worked out how to connect an iPad Retina screen to a PC via a Display Port cable.

Just here and the oculus one, I intended for the other one to be about upgrading the oculus dev rift. But I realize now one thread is enough and I apologize for the cross posting.
