Ether One announced RiftAwe today, very exciting news. The sense of presence: being in different bodies, spaces and times would really make a game like this stand out in VR. Between this and The Gallery we may already have some killer aps! Website and Greenlight.

Titanic: Honor and Glory -> http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/titan ... ry-phase-2

From http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.ph ... tcount=929 :
Not sure if anyone here has been following Titanic:Honor and Glory, but I just got an email update from them. Basically, I had messaged them on Facebook about possibly supporting the Rift because I thought it would be insanely cool to be on the Titanic , virtually, of course.

That was last week and now I am excited to that they are going to try and support the Rift.

Quote:
Hello all! We’re happy to make an announcement, in honor of passing the 1/3 mark of our Indiegogo goal!

With our budget from this phase, if we reach our goal, we will be buying the needed technology and software to implement the new Oculus Rift technology! Should our work with the technology be successful, “Titanic: Honor and Glory” will be Oculus Rift compatible!

For those who are unfamiliar with Oculus Rift, it is a virtual reality simulator headset that allows the player have a complete field of view as if actually living in the game world. It has 3D capability and will certainly amplify the beauties of the Titanic… but also make the sinking terrifying!

Please help us reach our goal so we can continue to develop phase 2, and implement this technology.

As necessary as slow paced narrative stuff is, there's always room for a big dumb VR super-soldier trip.

Edit: The Director agrees!

^ That video is pretty well rounded for showing off more than FPS!

Bumping because my original post about Autonomous, the game that may or may not exist could be nearing support. Rift demo spotted at Double Fine: https://twitter.com/Nosferalatu/status/ ... 8094829568
[youtube-hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfazbUwZ ... e=youtu.be[/youtube-hd]
Also look, someone made it in side-by-side 3D!

It should be noted that other beautiful 3D games came out of the same jam as Autonomous, White Birch and Black Lake which could also benefit from the increased immersion. Hooray Double Fine! I might argue that Tim Schafer is the one of the very best world builders out there, can't wait to walk around his creations.

Edit: Rift sighting at Bioware!

RABID, the creator wants support too!

Also, update on Memory of a Broken Dimension:
xra wrote:as would I, though Id want him to experience it best by wearing an Oculus Rift &some form of keyboard+GunHed ctrls
As well as hinting at some Hydra hand/head action.

Recently edited some previous posts showing how a Double Fine fan added stereoscopic support to the Autonomous Prototype, how the Director of Blood Dragon is foaming for a Rift, how Bioware has recently just started playing with theirs... things are certainly moving.

I like many of us was sort of hoping for some game announcement at GDC, but now it's looking like it may not even make E3, things are still just too young. THE FUTURE IS NOW... EVENTUALLY.

From what I can tell this is more of an engine that this is guy is working on than a game, and looks to be pretty early in its development still. But it seems to essentially be the same concept as minecraft, but with obviously much more detailed and realistic graphics, more complex terrain, and a much wider range of possibilities for sculpting the environment. We all already know how amazing minecraft would be in the Rift, but something like this combined with it seems to me to have unimaginable potential.

So I know I'm way late, but:
I just stumbled across this article about Star Citizen from PC Gamer. I'm not even an MMO fan, but the amount of detail and customization Chris Roberts is planning for this game just sounds absolutely ridiculous.

I didn't back the Kickstarter, but I know they're still doing pledges on their site so I'll probably have to chip in pretty soon.

Kairo looks very interesting, could maybe work great with the Rift, a atmospheric puzzle solving adventure.

EDIT:

Oh hell yeah my Occulus Rift just arrived. Guess I'm spending my weekend getting this working with Kairo. ^_^

Got one Kairo room working roughly with the Rift. Kind of mind blowing for me. The sense of scale I always wanted becomes instantly apparent

Maaaaaaaan, Nedo, thanks for posting this news! I played a little bit of Kairo a few months ago, was completely blown away by gameplay and atmosphere... and decided I want to spare this game for Oculus Rift once I get it (I thought I'll have to use vireio or vorpx drivers).
Great, great news!

Kairo is on it's way, and so is Jazzpunk. I don't think we're prepared for Jazzpunk.

'The Restorer' looks great. Those are the types of transitions between locations I'd love to see in VR - where you step through a door into a different world, or the world reconstructs around you.

The end of Bioshock Infinite has a similar kind of feel which probably looks great in the Rift.

Few quick updates:

Autonomous, the game I refuse to shut up about has been released, but only for Leap Motion users!(?), though for free.
https://airspace.leapmotion.com/apps/autonomous/windows
Bottom line. I want this game in my Rift. Just look at it. It's run on a Double Fine engine, but may play nice with Tridef/Vireio/Vorpx?

Edit: From the designer of the game himself at Double Fine.
Lee Petty wrote:@unsilentwill @oculus That would be pretty amazing.
A Rift update for Kairo was released a few months ago, and it plays so well. Also was in contact with the creator of Jazzpunk who is focusing his efforts on the complete game, but assures me extensive Rift support is in it's future.

(and yes I am making a game myself, not just posting about un-VR games. going big.)
