64 Bit Games on Vista?

So...while I am waiting an eternity for the OS to install, does anyone out there have experience with the 64 bit version? (I have the 32 bit).

Will 32 bit games run on the 64 bit OS? Is 64 bit Vista more trouble than it is worth?

Regards,
Neil

Vista 64 bit can run fine any 32 bit game. I've been using it for months and I haven't found any compatibility issues with it and games so far.

NVIDIA finally added a useful feature missing from their 64 bit drivers with version 175.16 released last month. It's the custom resolutions tab in the control panel. It was missing until before that driver version.

I bought 64-bit Vista, but then realised that there's no 64-bit headtracker driver for the eMagin Z800 3DVisor

So I threw money at the problem - bought another copy of Vista (32-bit this time) and got my lovely VR back - phew!

The funny thing is, I don't even know the first thing about operating systems. I only bought Vista 64 because I assumed 64 was "good" (like Mario 64) :P

I wanted to go with Vista 64-bit but unfortunately I don't think that either the VR920 or the Zalman Trimon are stereo compatible with the 64-bit version.

Thats funny that you say it took an eternity to install. When I installed Vista 32-bit I don't think it took more than 15 minutes for the whole process on a fresh HDD.

The VR920 does not work in stereo on Vista 64 bits because it does not have a 64 bit usb driver.

Apart from that, the only problems I've encountered are programming tools that only work on 32 bit or the problem that you can't run non signed drivers in Vista 64 bit (without pressing F8 every boot). RivaTuner uses a driver so it does not run in Vista 64 bit if the driver it uses is not signed.

Yeah, it may work, but its still not officially supported according to nvidia:

Thanks for the correction though, I wouldn't want to be spreading any mis-information.

I run Vista 64bit with an iZ3D monitor and TrackIR4 Headtracking on a Nvidia GFX card, no problems encountered so far.

All the games run perfect in 3D or 2D.

But check your hardware, some might not work. For me it was an old Midi-USB-Hub for music production but that's all.
