How many more 3D LCD's before they become mainstream? Can't be much longer can it. Engadget.com is reporting of Hyundai's entry into the fray.

"Bust out the Aqua Net and tease-up your beehive because 3D is once again the rage. Hyundai just announced its W220S TriDef 3D LCD which packs the standard list of specs we expected in a 22-inch monitor: 1,680 x 1,050 WSXGA+ resolution, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 300cd/m2 brightness and 5-ms response. Unfortunately the viewing angle is a mere 150-degrees up/down or 160-degrees side-to-side. Should you be bold enough to step into a pair of included polarized glasses then you'll also be treated to a suite of bundled 3D-apps including Google Earth 3D, a pair of 3D games, and TriDef media player for 3D video content. The W220S launches in Japan tomorrow for ¥98,000 (about $913). Pics of the face-specs after the break.

The more manu's on the 3D tech releases band wagon I suppose it will drive down the price of the 3D LCD's, here hoping it happens soon?

I think this is really it this time. So many major companies are all investing in S3D at the same time. Not too long before the tipping point.

Though its kind of sad reading the comments, 90% of the people have no idea what they are talking about.

Yeah they say 1680x1080 is low...
Maybe it's good marketing to advertice as 3360x1080 3D resolution (2x 2D resolution)... This would help IZ3D, too :D

Agreed. I wonder why people miss the most important part of the article: "now in 3D"

Ah well, I hope that these get put in many stores (setup correctly for good S3D viewing) so that everyone gets to see them. I'm sure this would greatly increase the market!

The glasses are pretty good too, I hope the curved lens doesn't cause issues with the polarizing being slightly off at top and bottom though... just a thought.

Are not DDD drivers still quite useless and only support per game purchase?

There is a lots of 3d devices coming to the market now, and lots of consumers will be burnt as they realiaze they bought a non supported brick, same as allways.

that's why Iz3D drivers will make a fortune, if they support all the upcoming 3D modes and are marketed/anounced correctly ;-)
