Looks like this MTBS thread is in the news again (indirectly). As long as we've got everyone's attention, let's put it to positive use:
October 16-18, 2016 at the Ontario Science Centre. This is definitely the East Coast industry-building event for virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D and immersive technology. In addition to having a core professional conference (third year running), there are going to be over 8,000+ consumers going through our public exhibition trying out VR and learning about the science that goes into it. We want you all to be part of this. We haven't done something quite like this before, so all help appreciated.
Learn more here:
http://www.getimmersed.com
All interested speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors are encouraged to reach out. We have special discount programs available for early start-ups as well. This is going to be ambitious!
...now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
Regards,
Neil

With the release of "The History of the Future" which MTBS is regularly credited in, I figured this would be a nice way to supplement the story from a community perspective:

Nice work, Neil.
Even with the book, I think people might still not understand how pivotal MTBS was for 3D and definitely VR.
I've been part of many forums over the years, and I don't think I've ever witnessed anything like that happen before.
It really was a perfect storm of ideas and personalities all coming together at the right place and time.
Maybe it could happen again, I don't know. It seems like a once in a lifetime kind of thing.

Thank you for the kind words - the same can be said of you and the hard work you've put into the place over the years!
For sure, it's happening again. Just a change of media, that's all.

Neil

That's it, after the roft was discontinued, rift S is also and unavailable into occulus store.
Only the quest (the standalone hmd) is still on sales.
