Who is the Mystery Guest?
We are working on a new guest interview for MTBS that should be ready in a few days. I wonder if you can guess who it is?
Here are some hints:
1. He co-invented something VERY popular. You have probably used it at least once in your life.
2. His co-invention earned him multiple honorary doctorates, and his partner received a knighthood.
3. It just so happens that he is a personal fan of stereoscopic 3D photography.
4. If you don't guess it, you will be kicking yourselves and hanging your heads in shame.
Can you guess who it is and what is his great invention?
The person who guesses the invention gets $500,000 in NAW dollars, and the person who gets the invention and name in one shot gets $1,000,000 in NAW dollars.
Regards,
Neil

Bill Gates, who is famous for inventing a program, where you can look out of many different Windows at once?
Real windows are stereoscopic 3D, of course. Now with all the 3D ready stuff, he wants to make up for the former... problems with it in S-3D

It's not Bill Gates. However, while our guest is very modest, I would safely say that Bill Gates owes much of his career to this individual, and the two have met in person. In fact, from the point of view of who was more influential, this individual may actually be a bit higher on the totem pole. This is just my personal opinion, though - I don't think our guest would ever admit it.

Neil

The pope? famous for... well don't know... maybe luck?
The richest guy of the world Warren Buffet (77)? At least he was it once
The president Gergoe W Bush?
He has tried a HMD from the army and now he is a fan of 3D
Steve Ballmer - someone Bill knew at university according to this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Gates
computer scientist Christos Papadimitriou
maybe he invented the algorithm for S-3D
Cheaf programmer from Elsa - for the same reason as above?

What about Mr and MRS Smith?
Or about the inventor of the CAVE 3D 8)
Or maybe Gerge Lucas, who made StarWars - and makes a 3D conversion right now I think...

Ah, BlackQ, could you go through the names currently guessed and tell if anyone got the grand prize response? You don't have to help at all, just say "Yes" if someone got it 100% accurate or "No" if no one got it exactly 100%.BlackQ wrote:Aha! Now I have leakage from MTBS (not all the time leakage from iZ3D ) Looks like Neil add me to cc to one of his e-mail..... I know the guy and I was really surprised that such well known guy is related with S-3D

Well I like the inventor of WWW. It could be possible.

I'd actually be surprised now if it's not Robert Cailliau:
1. He co-invented something VERY popular. You have probably used it at least once in your life.
-refers to to the WWW (or http)
2. His co-invention earned him multiple honorary doctorates, and his partner received a knighthood.
Awards
1995: ACM Software System Award (with Tim Berners-Lee)[2]
1999: Plantin Prize Antwerp
1999: Dr. Hon. Southern Cross University
2000: Dr. Hon. University of Ghent
2001: Médaille Genève Reconnaissante (with Tim Berners-Lee)
Partner Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee - He was given the rank of Knight Commander (the second-highest rank in the Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II as part of the 2004 New Year's Honours and was invested on 16 July 2004.[16][17]
3. It just so happens that he is a personal fan of stereoscopic 3D photography.
- Not sure about this, but he's a forward thinking kind of guy so it would make sense.
4. If you don’t guess it, you will be kicking yourselves and hanging your heads in shame.
- I would!

Yeah, that's why I was wondering if that was correct.android78 wrote:I'd actually be surprised now if it's not Robert Cailliau:

Yeah, that's what was deceiving to me, but I think that was just to throw off people from finding the answer too quickly.mastRmind wrote:Robert Cailliau would be my guess as well, though Neil said "probably used it at least once in your life", but if you are reading this you have used it.(not just probably)1. I thought Neil invites a guest? And you can't be the guest of yourself, can you?
But maybe he is meeting (in person) with BlackQ or someone from his staff.
BlackQ the co inventor (and Cheaf programmer) from the world famous S-3D driver by IZ3D
He arned a lot of honours for scientiffic things he did before (at university?), wich I can't remember 8)

I'm new on this site...
thinking about this person probably is...Steve Jobs, he invented a lot of things, mouse, windows, ipod, etc...
I think it's more likely to be Sharky, because we are looking for a co-inventor, aren't weLuke, He said he was working on the interview, not doing the interviewing!!! It still could be him!
I wonder if the knighthood is in this universe and not just someone who's become part of the Knights guild in Morrowind?
just a thought... it would sure broaden the search for this guest!
But maybe sharky is more like the co-producer or co-programmer (from MTBS3D.com).
