Trackmania Nations Forever

Post by sharky »

EDIT:

the mtbs3d server is now working! it is not listed in the official ladder rankings for now, but it works! if you create your own custom tracks, email me them in a zipped format to the address sharkyenergy AT hotmail DOT com! ill review them and add tehm to our server! moreover if you play on a nice track on another server, then most likely the server has the "save challenge" option enabled! hit ESC, go to advanced options and then hit "SAVE CHALLENGE", mail me the file and ill add that track too to our server! when we play, we will play on that server, so add "mtbs3d" to your buddy list!

if there are enough submitted custom tracks we will set up a votin for the tracks and maybe create the "custom track period" where for some days we will have the most voted tracks online! but lets see how this evolves.. ;)

have fun

igor

EDIT 2:

Trackmania server is OFFICIAL now! we earn points when we play there if we are not alone, and all the times are saved int eh database and will soon be displayed on a special page on MTBS!

EDIT 3:

online stats work! there is only one bug at the "server ladder" page which i hope to be fixed soon. the rest is working. click on the tracks page, and then on the single tracks to see the records!

http://www.mtbs3d.com/tmstats/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

EDIT 4: 04/25/2008

added a LOT of new maps! all very cool! have fun!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

i post here because it is more visible.. :)

mtbs is setting up a gameserver for this game. its already working but we do not reccomend to play in it for now because the time is wrong and you dont get a official score yet. to see this in your buddy list add the player "mtbs3d" to your buddy list! ill daily accept the requests.

the game is really funny and can be downloaded for free here:

http://www.trackmania.com/en/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;? ... =downloads

once you have created your user (or if you use the user from a previous version of the game rembmber to select a nationality) you can add folowing mtbs players to your buddy list!

post your user and ill add it to the list!

if you want to play you can simply schedule a game with the gamescheduling feature here:

http://www.mtbs3d.com/games.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

you need at least 10 posts on the forums to access the page (for security reasons)

all scheduled games canbe joined so if you want to play let others know and join! even if the game already started you can join, so who didnt join yet sees who is online!

see you on the track! :D

bye

Hey all,

I came across MTBS a few months ago and I've been quietly lurking here daily ever since (great site btw!)

Trackmania: if any of you haven't tried it yet, give it a go already. It's fun, free, and has built in Anaglyph support

Add Dyssident to your buddy list and I'll see you on the track :)

Personally i really love it so far. The lanes are sick and so am i after playing upside/sideways round and round for a while. But it's insanely fun!. Recommended. Don't worry about being last. I've only played a few hours and i'm very happy if i manage to cross the red line at the end. lol.

cheers

Welder:

No, in fact I scorn games that punish you for off-roading (go try World Racing 2 :D, climb the mountains in Italy, the pyramids in Egypt, it is awesome!)

Or this is proof I am weird :P

I might try to get on (I only had trouble with getting to the end in a couple of the later levels, but I think I beat TMN Sunrise Extreme once :), so I have far too much practice :P )

Anyone with a dual input HMD try the left-right mode 3D that the game offers? (I tried it by crossing my eyes, I think it works, but ouch!) Just hit escape while playing and choose 3D setup, click on the anaglyph and it will change to left-right, if you use a horizontal span graphics mode and an HMD with Dual VGA/DVI inputs you should have native support for 3D!
CAVE, see what all the fuss is about:

Slightly off topic: I consider Trackmania to be a modern day equivalent to the old game "Stunts" for DOS. It basically featured the same gameplay and even included a level editor which is pretty impressive for 1990. Stunts is pretty much abandonware now so give it a try if you want a good laugh..

Important warning for anyone serious about Trackmania

I just found out the hard way that Medals (TM:Nations or TM:United) and Skillpoints (TM:United) are only stored locally! You need to manually backup your progress as you would with a savegame file.

The folder to backup is: \My Documents\Trackmania\Scores

My game crashed in the middle of a race, corrupting my score file and losing 20+ hours of progress
Ladder Points, Official Times, and Coppers are stored by Nadeo and don't go anywhere.

Yes otherwise you risk going back to having zero medals and all of the solo tracks locked again. I only have one .scores.gbx file in that location but I'm not sure if there might be more, so backup whatever is there.

Yeah I was there when that happened, that dude seriously needs to be banned. I was so pissed after a while that I had to go play on another server. He single-handedly ruined the game.

There are a lot of guys like that.

They really piss me off. I'm glad I'm part of the MTBS community now so I can tell of anyone who votebans me.

It's only happened once so far for me, luckily. (Votebans seem to only be 1 day)
