You mean you don't want a free iPod Potato Slicer? All I need is your Battlenet account and password to send you a free sample. As long as I have your attention, have I ever introduced you to President Toomba YouScrewda of Nigeria? Turns out the vault that holds all his money is too small, and he needs a trusty individual from the Ukraine to hang on to the extra cash. He is willing to pay you a generous "cash holding fee" via bank transfer. It's kind of urgent, so PM me.

Furthermore, President YouScrewda has three daughters with lots of sexy friends ready for shipping to any man willing. Don't worry, these girls are after love FIRST. All they ask is a credit card number...just so they know you can be trusted.

Regards,
Neil

P.S. How do you install MacOS on a PC platform?

Don't you just buy the OS disk and install?

I was joking!!!

Don't know you the spammers that make posts that seem real by asking stupid questions, and then come back to edit their post with a bunch of links?

Neil

Yeah, I wouldn't bust out the champagne just yet. Lets see if the changes even work. These guys are resourceful.

Unfortunately it seems they've already found a way :

hmm that sucks- in that case I suggest implementing a policy where the 1st post of any new user will require moderation. before it is displayed

As I already said in the relevant thread, I don't think it's a good solution. It would be nice to hear about Neil concerning the different ideas that were proposed in that thread.

There are probably a few stragglers who registered before the new anti-spam CAPTCHA was put in place.

If the problem continues (and it's FAR reduced already), there are other anti-spam measures on standby that we can try.

Neil

So far so good. The first anti-spam method did so-so, but the new one seems to be doing well.

Thanks for your patience!

Neil

Did all you implement was a new CAPTCHA? I think we need more than that.

EDIT: So much for the spammers being gone. The forum is still littered with these "wow gold" postings. Not sure the counter-measures did anything at all.

Actually, the CAPTCHA is working perfectly (for now, at least). The spammers you discovered had registered before the new CAPTCHA was put in place. As I mentioned, a few stragglers are to be expected.

Neil

Ok, the CAPTCHA seems pretty good. Although its so good even a human has trouble. What exactly does "S-3D" stand for? It wasn't working for me.

Are you joking?

"stereoscopic 3D"

I tested and created a few dummy accounts just now to be sure, and it is working for me.

Neil

Silly me. I was thinking "stereo 3d".

Oh! That's not silly. That's an additional option I can add to the answers. Thanks for telling me.

will newbies know the S3D=Stereo3d/stereoscopic3d thingy though? most cinemas present it as "3D". How about a more generic question mtbs3_?
