Post by europanorama »

Last week oct. 27 a adobe max new flashplayers 3d-function was promised.
"he session entitled Flash Player 3D future scheduled for Max 2010 scheduled on October 27 at 11:00AM in room 503. Sebastian Marketsmueller (Flash Player engineer) will deep dive into the next generation 3D API coming in a future version of the Flash Player." from here:

no news in thibaut imberts blog.

Anyone has news?

I am interesting in real 3dstereo-functions like those in YT3D.

Yes, this new 3D API looks very promising. You can see a video of it here:
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flash/molehill/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However keep in mind that this is a 3D API as in polygonal rendering AKA DirectX/OpenGL acceleration. It has nothing to do with stereo3D. However with this access to the hardware, its possible developers could make stereo3d experiences, but probably limited to anaglyph and interlaced. I don't think it would be possible to interface with Nvidia 3D Vision, for example. Still, should be pretty cool when web pages rival Xbox/PS3 graphics.

Since they say they'll support fullscreen OpenGL and Direct3D, I don't see a reason why it would not work with existing stereo 3D drivers. They could even render in half resolution stereo 3D formats for those with compatible 3D TVs.

That is true. At least the Unity plugin does work with iz3D and Nvidia drivers in full-screen mode. I was talking more about native support.

If the AMD initiative is as open as they said, I guess we can also expect an HD3D implementation in Flash 3D. I won't hold my breath for NVIDIA though...

I thought more of freeviewing-dual-images.
i asked the same question in adobes flashplayer-forum

berezin.com and nvp3d.com -switzerland have affordable viewers: prism-glasses(nvp3d-desgined) and the sonice mirror-stereoscope(described elsewhere). the latter is isolating the 3d-image better.
