I just discovered the Ortustech 1920×1080 4.8" display, would be nice to create a display for HMDs, don't you think ?

3.7" is almost a perfect size for LEEP optics so this screen could be good for a DIY LEEP based VR Helmetcirk2 wrote:The omnia HD is 3.7" so it is more like a big Mobile screen than for hmd...
Now if only we could buy it separately with a driver that takes a usable input signal.mAchiNE wrote:4.8" might be a tad big

Yep... that's the problem.ERP wrote:Now if only we could buy it separately with a driver that takes a usable input signal.
Yep I had the same thought, and did some research, it might be doable, but you'd need a logic analyser to pick up the init signals and you'd probably be looking at using an FPGA to interface to the screen, and it's not a simple my first FPGA project level thing.android78 wrote:Yep... that's the problem.ERP wrote:Now if only we could buy it separately with a driver that takes a usable input signal.
I've often considered making a HMD using the replacement iphone screens (which go for about $50), but the problem is the processing of a 'normal' video signal and sending it to the display.
I think that 4.8" could be worked into a HMD with leep optics, it would just need a prism in the middle and the screens/second lens mounted at an angle.
