Can you buy a HDMI 1.4a cable with SPDIF?
I keep looking on the internet and cannot find a HDMI 1.4a cable which also has a separate optical digital audio output cable (TOSLINK - SPDIF) for old surround sound systems, can you get this?

These are usually two different cables, for sound either you use hdmi sound transmission or you use a dedicated optical spdif cable just for sound. I have never seen a cable combining the two.

eh uh.
the sound data when transmitted is multiplexed into the data stream , you won't need different cable![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)
and its better qualty than cheap receiver + spdif combo![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)
a hdmi receiver chip is used to extract spdif as well as image information. So in theory you need a hdmi passthrough with spdif output.
