It is demeaning to the Rift race, isn't it? How many people are Rifts, anyway? Or are you suggesting that Rifts are people too?
I reported you to local police for hate speech. They have this "If you see something, say something" type of program going on. /s
When will people get that force decides what is right and what is wrong. Democracy doesn't exist, it's not possible.

One will say something is offensive, another will say it isn't, I will say I believe it is/isn't. In the end, none of that matters.
You used the word "isn't". That is offsensive and demeaning to the "is" race, you racist! It is not the words that are offensive or racist, but the language. Let's ban English!

They're lost in space. Like heroin addicts traipsing along in a field of VR poppies. Agoner.

@Neil: I think one of the above smiley icon images should be added to the MTBS3D smiley collection, perhaps selected by "[]D" in a post.

Oh my Glob! 87xx arrived yesterday!

Image

Please excuse me while I dive back in for a few hours tonight; I'll tack something on to the "First Impressions" thread tonight or tomorrow. The super condensed version will be something like "3D effect is incredible if you've never owned a 3D anything, screen door is bad but only if you're looking at the pixels instead of the image, motion blur in Sixense Tuscany is horrible but that may be fixable in software, and this is the goddamned dawning of the age of VR."

I like that OLPC XO-1 sitting in the background. Open even... I have one. I especially like how the sound input can be DC-coupled and used as an oscilloscope. And that early "Pixel Qi" display it has, that can be viewed outdoors is wonderful too. Oh, yeah, now I remember where my big SD card went! (under the swivel screen).

Glad you like your Rift. It is the renaissance of VR, all over again. If you ever get uncorrectable yaw-drift problems (like mine does sometimes), just uplug the power to the Rift controller and plug it back in. That always fixes it for me. And it seems to do a better job of recalibrating my accelerometers too. It would be nice if it had a reset button, to avoid cycling power like that.

I just won an eBay auction for an official United States postage stamp from Y2K, featuring the classic "Riftawe" (Riftard) pose, using an ancient "Rift prototype" Palmer may have in his collection. Here is a photo of my postage stamp:

Perhaps we should start a petition to get the US Postal Service to re-issue this classic VR stamp, updated to feature a Rift DK, eh?

@geekmaster: I've got the same stamp framed sitting on my desk at work. It's great.

My VR stamp arrived yesterday. Now I need to frame it. It has interesting text on the back, under a clear layer of "lick-me" glue, so mounting it in a frame will remove access to that text.

@Bleppe: Where's the mandatory gaping grin? All I see is part of a lower lip. :o

Bad camera angle, or did they fake this artist's rendition?

I see you got pretty close to mimicking the hairstyle used in the postage stamp picture. ;)

Ha-ha don't ya just love the politically correct censorship that floats around in the world these days. What a load of crap....

They even tried to take the "Ho " out of Santa Claus...
Nike's campaign slogan "Just do it " derived from a prisoner's last words as he faced the firing squad. I don't see anyone bitching...

So I dare say that getting " RIFTARD " is way cool ... taken in the right perspective.
if you're as sensitive as half the crap being flung around on this thread... I wish you the best in the real world.

p.s that's one nice riftard stamp you got there... hide it well, could well be worth a mint in years to come... if the freaks don't try and sensor it ;)
then again a little controversy always goes a long way.... right :)

Remember the show Crank Yankers....

I should sue the artist for copyright infringement!
