Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
It was connected. I tried both USB 2.0 and 3.0 port, and it is connected by DVI. The main display is a projector connected over HDMI, perhaps it makes a difference to connect the rift with hdmi and have the main monitor connected by DVI.

Check if the 'DK tracker' device is present in the control panel.

Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
Thanks, will check when I get back on the gaming computer. I tried plugging the rift in the hdmi, and now it says patch completed. But when I try loading up iracing I get a 116 BSOD. I see in nvidia control panel that I can't choose "regular" SLI (it asks me to configure surround). So I will try removing one of the graphics cards and reinstall graphics driver.

Has anyone managed to get half life 2 vr working with the RIft UP? I have it setup to lanuch with the usual "-vr" in launch properties but unfortunately it just seems to load without any warping. (Oculus config utility at the same time displays DKHD2).
Thanks,
Thanks,

Quick note to say I have released v0.2 of the VrDesktopMirror, fixed sleeping when the Windows 8 tile Start Menu opened. Download link on the previous page.

Thanks,
you need to activate vr mode in settings -vr doesnt work in hl2 or tf2 anymore vr mode is in video options

Unfortunately I have just tried the mirror exe. It does not work for
the oculus sdk as in my xml replacement for the Tuscany landscape and house.
The stutter is totally unacceptable.

Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
As far as I am aware the mirror exe is just so you can see the desktop on your monitor whilst having the Rift as the primary. It should stop working when a full screen app is present and certainly not be used to try and play games (as if it was cloned). I haven't tried it myself as yet.cgp44 wrote:Unfortunately I have just tried the mirror exe. It does not work for

Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
Is C sharp an interpreted language? Would the application written in C or C++ help the
latency? We have lost a serious mirroring feature that is very important. I have not fully
explored Win7 nvidia control panel cloning, but isn't mirroring supposed to be just that two
images on two displays at the same time. Have I mucked this up.
I used hardware mirroring/cloning as recommended (ie a hdmi splitter) .
The splitters don't have a edid rom, they have timeouts: a wakeup time to connect, and a shutdown
time after no response from a display (I think an edid data handshake). This caused the painful
synching where you turn on the rift; wait for splitter to respond with a duplicated hdmi signal;
wait for the rift to respond to the hdmi signal.
I had to do a jig: turn on rift/ wait for splitter light/off/on the rift to avoid the splitter shutting down.
So now we cannot use splitters. Rozsnyo are you there? I will PM him. Why is this? I thought the hdmi
input chip was robust. Is there a firmware solution like your reduction of the hdmi slewing step function?

Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
Hey dudes, I finally got my rift up running like the wind and it is awesome . I put my Oculus as main screen and my monitor in extended screen ( multiplied screens is what I want, but its seems impossible put this config as well as dk1). I used WhoIsRich program to multiply my desktop, its very useful. But my boss wants to see the game running in the monitor when people is playing with the oculus up! running 1080p. Do you have any idea how can I do? I thought it would be great to have any program who runs the game in two windows: one for the rift, and another for the secondary screen.
Thanks guys, and apologies for my English level.

I had it once running XGA@70Hz when trying to get multimonitor cloning working with my acer120Hz beamer.3DJB wrote:is it possible to overclock this and get it running faster than 60hz?
Try FHD@70Hz by creating and using a monitor.inf with proper entries yourself. Then we all see if it works .

Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
I did workout a way to mirror fullscreen games on my monitor, but requires some setup:
Download and install Open Broadcaster Software: https://obsproject.com/
This setup doesn't require the Rift to be main, that depends on your game and if you can launch it to the extended.
Run OBS and if your Rift is main, shift the OBS window back ( WIN + SHIFT + LEFT ) to your monitor.
OBS unfortunately doesn't just capture anything, you have to add each game as a 'source', but at least it's saved.
Run the game to capture, switch back to OBS. ( For stubborn fullscreen games, use CTRL+ALT+DEL Task Manager )
Right click in the OBS Sources window, Add, Game Capture, type in a name, pick the game from the Application dropdown list, OK.
Now the clever bit, you do not need to actually record anything, just click the Preview Stream button or Settings, Fullscreen Preview Mode.
Bonus: If your Rift is main, set up a 'Monitor Capture' source ordered BELOW the game, so it mirrors your desktop when a game is not running.

Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
The non-working of display cloning is due to the native aspect ratios
being different. Rotating the rift to portrait-flipped mode does not change this.
As the duplication of the vr experience is very important, if not a necessity,
we need riftUp! in native landscape mode. The other link here is hdmi hardware
cloning that does not work for my splitter. I ask again, is there anyone
whose splitter works?
I have asked Rozsnyo this, but so far no reply. Maybe it requires a new board.

Thanks now realised it is updated to not use -vr as per here (http://steamcommunity.com/games/220/ann ... 3506809570 )Hofi wrote:yunti wrote:Has anyone managed to get half life 2 vr working with the RIft UP? However for me it doesn't load unless the oculus config utility is closed. (Took me a while to realise this). Only then will it load and unfortunately the image is rendered too small and the warping is also off.
Does anyone else with a Riftup have similar issues or is anyone able to get it to work?

Has everyone received their ordered parts? Because I haven't! Trying to get in touch with Rozsnyo for a while now but no response.
I've paid him 2,5 months ago and ordered a standalone board.

Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
Of course why didn't I think of it before.
The reason why hdmi splitting does not work is because of the
timing is wrong due to the portrait mode of the sharp 5.9er.
It is nothing to do with signal degredation.
Thus the portrait mode of RiftUP! is a flaw if you need the display
duplicated outside the goggles.
You need a frame buffer to scan out a perpendicular aspect ratio.
You can see the frame buffer memory on the DK2 pcb as the samsung screen
has the same native aspect ratio.
So too bad, the RiftUp! is single display.
Toggle the display (win+P or win+shift+left/right), if your application can do so.
That mirror application, could it be modified to just update the screen
once every 5 seconds, so the stutter only occurs then. The external
viewer gets to see a snapshot slide show. Not so fussed with the
desktop being visible.

@marinjonkman
I, too, have not received my standalone kit. The last information I got on this was a PM from roszyno on June 4th telling me that he expects the standalone kits to be ready by June 6th.
I PMed him again last week but also non answer from him since then.
I also am envious to all the DK1 upgraders here and hope that everything is resolved soon.

Big F*cking GUN.
and no I haven't tried it Dr Beef. Have you?
Doom 3 would be petrifying in the Rift. It scared the bloody pants off me on a monitor 10 years ago.

Pleased to release VrDesktopMirror v0.3 for download:
http://www.greycube.com/site/request.php?69
Finally fixed an annoying bug, where the cursor could be drawn in slightly the wrong position,
making it seem like buttons and other things were not responding to clicks.
So highly recommend updating!

I've not yet tried it, but saw that steam currently have 50% off in their summer sale, so when the opportunity presents itself in going to give it a try. Hoping I don't need to make code changes due to the different screen size of the rift up.

Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
Unfortunately DirectX / OpenGL capture is horribly complicated once running fullscreen.cgp44 wrote:WhoIsRich wrote:That mirror application, could it be modified to just update the screen

Currently if V.R.D.M. was not sleeping, it would just show a black screen.
So if you need fullscreen support, see my earlier post about using 'Open Broadcaster Software'.
What I could do, when I get some free time is add support for borderless fullscreen games,
as they can be captured by the current code, at the cost of some game FPS.

Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
Hi!
I've made different tests using the RiftUp! to read pdf.
This is one of my goals for the use of VR
I've used a quite complicated and cluttered PDF for a test like this :
gif hosting
the original PDF, some advertisement found randomly : http://www.pdf995.com/samples/pdf.pdf
It's surely way better than the DK1, but still difficult to read. Especially if you're not completly horizontal to the lines of the text, the aliasing makes the letters a bit deformed.
I would like to try it on simpler pdf. So if you've got something to test, I could try it
The thing is, in VR, you always want to have more I guess... I don't know when PDF reading would be possible. Probably not 4k but just a little bit above 1920*1080 as it is now?

I see parts of my body. (wrong camera settings)
Headtracker is not working for me.
I can't look up / down with my mouse.
I have two weapons at once.
Maybe these issues can be corrected somewhere, but i'm not familiar with the several *.cfg files and the needed variables ...

Aiming up/down is with headtracker only - i will try to find a way to add mouse up/down ...
Rift up is looking well in 1920 x 1080.

Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
A quick Rift+Doom3 question.
I think the answer is No, but I just wanted to double check.
Was there ever a fix to get the "Blink" videos working?
I think that is what they are called ?
I am not sure, but I though they were used with the Hand held device you have in the game.
This is a game I would love to play for my very first time with the Rift.
Since I have never played the game at all, I was going to wait for it to be 100% Rift ready, but I think the "Blink" hang-up was the only thing left to be fixed with the Rift version of the game.

Bink.
I don't think it was sorted, I am also not sure I have played far enough for the lack of Bink video to be noticeable..
I got the impression that it's not critical however, and the experience provides a good level of immersion (and fear).

Here are some update notes:
- we are no longer accepting new orders (hard to manage the building 1-2 per week)
- we just got the last PCBs to assemble (including the missing piece from the Standalone type model)
- everybody who have not yet received the unit will have it on the way by July 4th latest
If there is an interested party in taking over the project and managing sales/manufacturing better, mail me.

Ah.. excellent, thanks. I didn't realise there was a thread on the Oculus VR dev forum. In that case I'll give that a go myself when I next get a chance. Sounds like the PDA issue is nearly fixed, though it seems there isn't a binary with those fixes in available yet.Fredz wrote:It was, see here : https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/v ... 05#p108805DrBeef wrote:Bink. I was so happy, but I had no idea the PDA problem and the bink problem were two different problems...
Like DrBeef said, it seems that someone was working on a fix for the PDA, but that fix never got put into an update.

Re: RifTUP! FullHD Oculus DK1 upgrade kit
Hi:)
Good news! I have been working for a while to get a 7" 1080p display with HDMI input, and now have a functional prototype!
The board is small and light and uses a Toshiba chip. This is usb powered and has a mini HDMI input.
Everyone interested in getting one of the first batch and/or helping to test them with dk1 should pm.
I should also hopefully have a better non-ir tracker available soon.
Yes it would be nice to have some dk1 sent here to verify no noise issues and try a new tracking unit, etc.
