right, I'm not using the nvidia stereo drivers. I'm trying to play stuff with 1024*768@100hz however it always looks like 85hz. I tried rivatuner but there the max setting is also 85hz. My monitor is capable of 100hz.

This might mean that your monitor drivers are not installed so Windows does not know what maximum refresh rates and resolutions are supported. Try to find them on your monitor manufacturer website.

Apart from that, you there might be a tool in the control panel of the NVIDIA drivers to add new resolutions and refresh rates. I know it's there in Vista 32 bits and not in Vista 64 bits. It probably also exists in XP.

Apart from that, you could try to use something like Powerstrip. It might be able to add new resolutions and refresh rates.
