Interesting, but I still wonder how good the quality can be on non-3D TVs.

If I was going to buy this for a non-3D TV, I would look at my TV's response time since that will directly affect ghosting artifacts. Otherwise I would think the quality would be identical, since it is just page flipping 720p frames.
Also worth noting Tom McWilliams (the inventor in the video) was a game developer for a lot of classic games:
