It was raining today. So I took in a couple of shows. First up is Fright Night 3D. What we have here is a basic remake of some movies I remember from the 80's/90's time frame, with the addition of 3D. This is a vampire movie. Quite bloody and a gore festival in some area's of the film. Not recommended for the young ones. The first half of the movie was kinda slow and disappointing: I did enjoy very much the second half though. The guy who plays' the main vampire I felt did a very good job. I don't know his name. I enjoyed the original Fright Night movies. And I did enjoy this one. So hows the 3D you ask? Well its very much on the week side. This is definately a conversion. The theater I saw it in looked like it needed to turn the brightness up a few notches. Yes, vampire movies are in general, a dark setting. Combine the dark visuals, lack of brightness, plus loss of light from the 3D process- well the 3D didn't look so good at times. This 3D movie will only be added to the list of poor 3D movies.
Chief's score card: Story: 8 Acting:8 Special effects:8 3D: 5.5/6.0 Final Score: 7
In conclusion, I don't feel the converted 3D added any benefit to the film.
cheers

http://realorfake3d.com/According to the above website, only Conan is a conversion. Perhaps Fright Night suffers from a narrow separation.....the dreaded 3D Lite syndrome as I call it? This seems to be common in modern 3D movies. http://house-on-haunted-hill-3d.blogspo ... ard-3.htmlhttp://2d23dconversions-carnivalofsouls3d.blogspot.com/Gae43

Thanks Gae43, I did not know they used stereo camera's. Thats dissappointing. I didn't see alot of definitian in the 3D. It had more of a card boardy look to it. I might rent it in a couple of months and check it out on my 3D plasma, just for comparison.
peace
