nVidia 3D Vision with TV

Post by bigbob85 »

Hey,
Quick question. 3D monitors run at 120hz, how come I cant plug my computer into a 120hz TV (dual link dvi or hdmi 1.4, not fussed) and use the TV for 3D even thou its not an actual 3D TV.

Im pretty sure I cant do this, just wondering why.

cuz LCD's aren't known for fast pixel switching speeds but rather known for shameless marketing stuff.

That's not 120hz, sorry bro.

Still confused as to why. 120hz, means the screen refreshes 120 times a second ? Why can my computer not use it as if it was a 120hz LCD monitor..

No, those TVs aren't actually 120Hz. Its a marketing gimmick. The TVs can only handle and process and 60Hz input, although the display itself has some internal interpolation to "fake" a 120Hz refresh rate. Its bogus. They can't handle a real 120Hz 2D signal and neither can they handle a 3D signal. If the screen does not specifically say its a 3D TV, then it won't work.

Ah k, so they take a 60hz, then blend/smooth the 2 frames somehow. Makes sense.
