How to shoot a 3D video with one camera

If You want to shoot a 3D video with one camera:

1. Shoot a video moving the camera sideways (slowly).
2. Load the video as left and right movie in StereoMovie Maker (free, get it here: http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stvmkr/).
3. Delay one of the videos some frames (PageDown or Ctrl-PageDown).
4. Save the 3D movie as side-by-side or anaglyph (red/blue).
5. Watch it with Your 3D glasses.

I've seen a few Youtube videos using this technique but couldn't figure out how they did it I finally did

The only issue is the verticle distance changing.

A tripod with wheels would work perfectly for circling an object!

I don't get it. Why do you need the mirror when you can just free-view?

what do you mean by free-view? cross eyed? because that works not for me. This is for those, who have no glasses, but have a mirror.

One method that I read about somewhere is to get a camera with a big lens on a tripod. Cover up half of the lens with a piece of paper (right half for example) and take a picture. Cover up the other half (left half) and take another picture.
Essentially the lens itself acts as a prism and offset lens. Haven't tried this myself, but seems plausible.
