Not a bad start, but clearly there are huge chucks of history missing (particularly the wealth of developments in the past 10 years).

maybe you can find more informations in this huge but geat document: http://www.3dmagic.com/pdf/Digital_3D_p ... th_BIO.pdfloading it takes a while but it's really good I think. as for the first shutters commercially available, maybe the "3D imager" that came with the vectrex console? it used a wheel to create the shutter effect instead of electronica ps: about lcd shutter glasses: Quote: ....in 1989 he started 3DTV Corp and made the front page of the wall street journal by introducing the first home 3DTV system with LCD shutter glasses ....
(from the huge document above) I also found this document (may be interesting and I like the vidéo): http://www.stereoscopy.com/faq/movies.html

Quote: It could only be viewed by one person at a time on a modified stereoscope, as a proper screening-process to divide the left and right pictures for viewing had not been invented. according to this, I wonder when it was first converted into anaglyph

Thank you all for the information. Added most important events that I found through your links.
I would also like to say that anyone can modify the timeline, if you register on the site dipity.com.

Ooops, I'm sorry it's my fault (me and my bad english ), the picture I did post earlyer is from the "3D imager for vectrex", it's not lcd and you did associate it on you site with the first lcd glasses from 3DTV Corp... wrong pic! also that green picture from the "autostereoscpy invented" in year 1840 seems wrong to me, it shows a stereogramm (don't know how to spell that) when it should be showing a side by side or crosseyed picture... ...I clicked it to verifie on the link and here is what I read: Quote: The simplest method of making a 3D image is by doing it yourself. Take two static images put them side by side and either look at them enough into the distance until they merge into one or go cross-eyed in front of them until you get the same effect. This idea was popularised more recently with the craze of Magic Eye images in the early 90s. Of course, it's not very practical with motion pictures unless you want a blinding headache and some serious eye damage but there are other autostereoscopic methods that the industry has come up with.

I also found something that could be interesting, this is half me/ half google translation so sorry if not very clear: Quote: In the sixteenth century, B. G. Della Porta and J. Chimenti's drawings are composed of a series of print with the same subject, made from different angles. There is no evidence that these drawings were made with the intent of making relief, but their vision could be viewed in 3D http://www.stereoscopie.eu/hist/histoire.htmQuote: In the sixteenth century, B. G. Della Porta and J. Chimenti rendered already 3D drawings using successive drawings of the same subject from slightly different angles.
http://www.cnes.fr/web/CNES-fr/882-hist ... scopie.phpsorry the links are in french, that's all I found for now but maybe you can use some translator

Actually Kinddragon is a piece of history too since he made 8800gtx going 3d (openstereo) for the very first time. I remember playing tombraider (legend or anniversary), flat out and hl2 with that. Nvidia still haven't released any PROPER stereodrivers for their newer cards.
