Pretty interesting, perhaps we could create something similar with just a regular LCD screen, like the DS screens, it won't be curved but if we put it inside a custom helmet it may be quite immersive until some company makes a curved OLED HMD.

This next video is pretty amazing, a 120 degree horizontal field of view using a parabolic mirror

Perhaps we could learn a thing or two on the published papers of this research and build this, I know it's only in the research phase at the moment, but at the end of the video they talk about using a pair of micro projectors and building the prototype into an HMD among other things.

The next video is about a 3D magnifying lens

This next video is the whole collection from that user, all very interesting

Hmm... that parabolic mirror idea seems interesting. The device they built didn't look so hot, but it appears to be a solid concept if some company could get that working with professional quality equipment. 126 degrees pretty much blows away most everything else out there. I am not sure about DIYing that yourself, but I imagine it could be very worthwhile for someone with the right tools and experience.

I wonder if PalmerTech could do it?

He has just started building an HMD, he was going to look into the LEEP VR tech, perhaps he could research this as well and see if he build parts of the technology. From the video the apparatus didn't seem too big and it was sitting on some kind of stand, I wonder how much the building materials would cost.

Wow thats realy great reserth there... I think DIY would stop with the mirror... Is seems to be a very complex optical device.

There is my worklog, not much to look at, but I have a lot more done that just what makes nice pictures. ;)

Are hyperbolic half mirrors available? That looks like a cool setup, I am currently trying to replicate the early monoscopic LeepVR work, but that also looks interesting.
