S-3D is cool, every person I have shown thinks it is. However, their second comment after saying "how cool it is" is that they never knew it existed. S-3D is stuck as a niche market with low sales (in comparison to normal monitor sales) however it is not a niche interest. IZ3D needs to promote themselves more than just banner adds. You need to focus more on the old media than the new media.

There is no better old method way of promoting your product than getting it in to someones hands. Yes I know they may be in some specialty shops that you can experience it (http://www.iz3d.com/t-neexperienceit.aspx) but you are still missing 99% of the general public. I think it is time to start negotiations with a bigbox store to set up in store demos. I work as a computer sales associate at Best Buy, and I know I would want to push IZ3D monitors out the door if I could. The worst that can happen is they say no.

I agree. Setup a display with everything that's needed in big stores, let people play around with them. There's always somebody trying out the ps3, xbox, whatever they have there.

I don't think stereo games are ready for prime time yet. It isn't plug and play and the average person isn't going to go through all the problems to get it to work or tolerate the ghosting that some solutions have.

We are getting close with IZ3d and their monitors and potential release of drivers.

I would love to show off 3d to the thousands that will attend Quakecon in Dallas TX the first weekend of August.

iZ3D should go to Penny Arcade Expo. It is now the biggest gaming convention in the US, and is attended by lots of hungry gamers, not the skeptical press, like the old E3. If anyone from iZ3D is listening, now's the time to go book that booth! You'll do really well, I'm sure!

For that matter, Neil should come out and do a panel on stereo 3d. They're currently looking for speakers, and you can't do much better than this when it comes to getting the message out to gamers.

I've gone for the past few years and live in the area, so if anyone has any questions feel free to ask. Overall, the convention is attended by a great group of people; these are the kind of gamers that actually CARE about games and the game industry.

Ezz, I think you are right. I think Neil definitely should make an appearance at this function, a lot of game developers will be there and g4tv covering it. It is so close to the s3dga he is doing in california though and so late in the game. What do you think he could achieve at this point - do you know anyone you could talk to?

Well, clearly it's too close to attend this year, since it happens in a week. I don't have any contacts really, but I'm sure there are some on the website. Here's hoping for 2010!

Ezzelin, I am a last minute kind of guy, never make plans that far ahead and CARPE DIEM I only had 3 days to make siggraph before Neil told me and I think I did fair job there. Neil may cannot make it, but I want to come and poke around get all stereo3d up in everyones business ;), are you going this year - maybe you can show me around - it was your idea after all? Last time I was in seattle john kerry was running for president at a convention there so it's been awhile. Palmertech is saying he might can run us up on his friend Adam Sessler from g4tv - that could be great fun! Maybe get g4tv to come to s3dga and I will even buy you a beer for all great suggestion ;) This is gonna be way better than dragoncon I think. I will miss some celebreties, but they gonna have that star wars MMO there and I am really excited about that.

Isn't this sorta like what Panasonic is going to do to promote Avatar and their new line of 3D-Ready sets?

Sadly, this is the one year I'm not going to PAX. I've gone the last 4 years in a row, and only missed the first year. Anyway, I'd love to show you around if I was in town, but this year I'm off to Arizona to see Terry Pratchett at the first NA Discworld convention. Why do they always have to schedule all the cons I want to attend on th same weekend? Anyway, I should be at PAX in 2010, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Best of luck to anyone who goes, though! PAX is very busy and lots of fun.

What?!? A discworld convention? in fact the FIRST discworld convention! And you didn't tell me!!! ;) I was at dragoncon with Sean Astin picking on him about his harrison bergeron role with howie mandel and he was remembering the fun times he had on colour of magic with us - I really liked that movie - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1079959/

Did you see that and hogfather? Which did you like better? Honestly when I first heard about hogfather I thought they can't take the book and do right in a real live action movie and that is was gonna be really bad, and everythign didn't translate perfectly, but I was quite surprised they did so well and that is a family Xmas tradition at my house now! The actor that played Teatime, really good I thought!

You are right Ezz, dragoncon with all the star trek and star gate and battlestar galactica people, the PAX with star wars MMO, and discworld all on the same weekend and I want to make all 3 - ARRGH! Really, tell them at discworld please please please try not to schedule it on the same weekend next year as the con, I will definitely come next year if not during labor day weekend but I have read pratchett has alzeihmers so.... Ok I am schedule PAX in for next year and to find you ;)

Ok well Ezz, please post back here your daily adventures and all the laughs from Discworld, I am gonna keep an eye out, and if Sean Astin shows up with a tie in for colour of magic - keep putting the pressure on him that I did ;)

This brings up another dragoncon memory - I think you especially Cyber will like this - for those that saw the TV version of Harrison Bergeron - it had Howie Mandel doing a tv show called chat with charlie and Sean Astin as the hero. Well here in the USA Howie Mandel has actually made the character in that movie into reality with his "deal or no deal" show that is a perfect copy of what he was doing to numb the minds of the masses in the movie. So Sean Astin was at dragoncon last year and I asked him look - Howie Mandel is living out his harrison bergeron role, we need you Sean Astin to snap all these idiots out of thier comas and make them wake up to the reality of this simulcrum republic they are in - everyone looked at me like I was a freaking nut!!
I just couldn't believe when Deal or No Deal got top nielsen ratings, I have made it a point in my life that one day I am going to walk up to Howie Mandel and shame him for not learning from the movie he starred in what a bad thing he unleashed on humanity.

Ezzelin I just wanted to thank you again for this suggestion. It was a great time and very informative and fun at PAX. One of the most interesting panels I attended was put on by several executives at many companies, MSFT included talking about the ESRB - ratings on games. Adam Sessler, to Hal Halpin, To Morgan Webb, to tons of developers and many gamers, people are upset with how the government is controlling what they can make and play. Adam himself bought up how silly it is you have parents letting thier 10 year olds play games where you kill cops and sell drugs and steal cars, but because 2 characters kiss, you have this huge uproar! LOL! I was really impressed with the political and social involvment all these folks had trying to make our games free and fun and not restricted by big brother. There was a ton of stereo3d stuff going on to that I have posted elsewhere relating to Avatar and such. How was discworld? Are you planning on pax games east? Also the tokyo games show seemed to really excite a lot of people at PAX, you think we should get Neil to go?
