iZ3D bringing 26-inch prototype 3D LCD to CES 2009!!!!!!!!!!

In case you haven't noticed, iZ3D is riding the suddenly swelled wave of 3D enthusiasm all the way to the bank (and Vegas). Even though its existing 22-inch 3D LCD has been around since mid-2007, the firm has recently hacked down the price and pushed it into retail outlets in order to drum up interest. At CES, it's bringing even more firepower in the form of a 26-inch prototype (pictured) that should do everything the current 22-incher does, just 4-inches better. Additionally, it'll have on display the Immersion Series, which places a trio of the iZ3D monitors together in order to better simulate flights and races. In case that's not enough, we're also told to expect a 22-inch widescreen 3D LCD that's console-friendly, meaning that the only thing standing between you and 3D Xbox 360 enjoyment is a wonky set of glasses and compatible software. We'll see how it all looks in around a fortnight.

This is great news, :)

Its a shame they have only up'ed it to 26", I would of thought they would of gone for like 37"plus for front room entertainment (future proof for consoles and sky 3D)

but still great news :)

Hopefully this will push Nvidia and partners to release an even larger s3d lcd.

though where is the iz3d logo? Please keep it on the front!

additional news just in!
iZ3D has announced that they will have three new 3D Display Prototypes at CES 2009.

The items on show include a Flight Simulator, 26-inch

Monitor and a Console Game Compatible Monitor.

“We are continually pioneering new areas of 3D display for consumers

with new display products, stereoscopic 3D software drivers, 3D

player groups, events, and networking, 3D content certification and

enablement, and system solution partnerships,” stated Thomas

Striegler, CEO of iZ3D LLC. “Introducing three cutting-edge 3D

prototypes at CES is once again proving iZ3D is the defacto industry

leader in 3D solutions,” he added.
Here are the details released so far on the three new 3D displays:

New iZ3D Immersion Series that gives users an incredible total 3D

effect. It is a Triple iZ3D monitor setup with a flight or racing

game simulator that really puts players in the experience!

26″ iZ3D Prototype - Thought the 22-inch widescreen was awesome? Wait

until you see the 26-inch version!

22″ Widescreen Console Game Compatible Prototype - Now play many

popular Xbox®, PS3® and Wii® games in 3D on the new iZ3D 22-inch game

compatible monitor.

popular Xbox®, PS3® and Wii® games in 3D on the new iZ3D 22-inch game
compatible monitor.
Even I haven't seen it!

And Yuriy, the 26" Housing is Generic, there are no logos at all at this time. Don't worry :)

? Why is it unreliable? I didn't say it wasn't true. (Although, it's not a 100% sure thing that it will be there)

It mentions it here also:

So I wouldn't say that site is unreliable.

It's just so new that I have not seen the prototype with my own eyes :)

I saw this same news here and I think it's reliable enough (for me at least).
That's what S3D needs so it becomes mainstream - consoles support. This will make the transition much faster and more developers will have s3d in mind when working on new projects, that's good for everyone. I hope PC users will not become second tier users though (the way PC gamers are nowdays compared to console gamers).

Since i'll buy a 3D monitor in 2009 and need a bigger screen than my current 22", i'm really interested to hear the detailed specs, expected retail availability and price of the 26".
Will wait patiently for all the CES reports.

I'm quite puzzled with the "Now play many popular Xbox®, PS3® and Wii® games in 3D"
Is it just an other journalist misenterpreting a commercial argument or is there some way to play current consoles games in 3D ? i've always thought it was impossible on consoles.

I was talking regarding Stereo-3D. In "mono" this is the situation for years now :(. But I bet the moment a console s3d solution comes out every effort will be concentrated there  (I hope I'm wrong).

Now that CES is underway, can someone (BlackQ or Welder, or someone in CES and has seen the demo) fill us in on the details??

The 26", I guess it is just a bigger and better quality 1080p panel, but basically same technology?

The 3-panel setup, how does it work? If someone buys three 22" IZ3D monitors plus extra parts (like Matrox triplehead device) can he basically duplicate the setup?

The 22" console prototype -- how does it work? What connections (probably HDMI, but maybe also component for Wii)? Seems like it has to be different S3D input technology (than the current dual-input image+depthmap)?? What is the technology, and does IZ3D know for sure that's what the consoles will support?

Quality impressions from anyone who've seen a demo?

The only way I could buy one of these is if I can get an ATSC tuner for it (standalone, not PC based, I will not boot into windows to watch TV), and HDCP support on a single input.

Basically it must function as my TV also because I couldn't afford it otherwise.

I hope it comes out and it works great, nVidia is sticking its head in the sand, now is the time to move the market (sad that iZ3D can do better than nVidia, even though they likely operate on less money than just the advertising for 3D that nVidia is doing.) Oh well, if you can't beat them shout louder must be nVidia's motto.

3D on consoles isn't impossible, but it doesn't look that amazing either. I tried an i-glasses 3D video pro which kicked out 800 x 600 with the PS2, but headache-city within 20 minutes. Oh, you also need the virtual fx converter for it too which is another $150, maybe less if you check ebay.

I sure hope the new 22" iZ3D console 3D ws monitor is somewhat affordable, I just bought the regular 22" at the $319.99 price a month back and I'm expecting the new one to be well out of my price range until a larger model comes out and they are clearing stock like they did with the 22".

If Welder or anyone can answer: Is there any sort of adapter/converter in the works to use the current 22" ws iZ3D possibly with a firmware update so I don't have to buy a second 22" ws iz3d for 3D console gaming? PS3/XBOX 360 games are going to look fantastic.. the price probably won't be so fantastic. Maybe iz3d will let you trade in your regular 22" ws for the console 3D version for a discount of sorts.. I'm expecting it to be around $1500.00 and I'd sooner try to build a passive projection setup which will only cost around $2,000 from browsing the net for components.

Thanks for any input/information and I apologize if I'm coming off as rude today.. my mind and body are burned out from lack of sleep and food.

peace

No way it should be around $1500 !! Why should a 22" 3D monitor with a different input be costing 4-5 times other 22" S3D monitors? Just because it is console-compatible? For all we know, the competitor's 120Hz LCD monitor may already be console-compatible (if Sony/MS updates console firmware to output 120Hz page-flipped signal) and they are $350 - $400. Technology constantly improves, and I reckon the 22" iZ3D console-compatible monitor should cost maximum ~$500.

(I have to comment on this, in case iZ3D read this and got the impression that we all think $1500 is a reasonable price and go for that  )

I can't say the price point, because I don't think any of us necessarily know at this time, but our new monitor is different by a new board with the different inputs/different firmware. So, in theory it may just be as simple as swapping the chipsets. I cannot say much about this though, because it is all theory to me.

if it doesnt do 120hz its already an epic fail in the making.

I predict that one year from now EVERYONE will want 120hz...and you can sell your 60hz LCDs for $2 on ebay. Not only because of S3D, also for gaming. True 120hz rocks.

well certainly.

But the question is, would you spend $XXX (or $XXXX) dollars on this if you know you can get a 120hz monitor in 12 months?
