Optoma HD28HDR is 3D Vision compatible at 1080 120Hz

This projector just came out 03/2020 and mine arrived yesterday. I expect it to be 3Dvision compatible but still was surprised of how readily compatible it is, it still need EDID edited. I used the one for the UHD40 and it's recognized as generic CRT. 3Dvision test passed smoothly. I tested with Mad Max, Remember me and Tomb Raider Shadow, all work in 3D at 1920x1080x120Hz. It also play 3D bluray movies from my PS3, tested with Dr Strange and it looks much better than my 1070w w/r to brightness, sharpness, even color. In general it makes 3D viewing in games and movies much easier on the eyes, maybe as good as normal no glasses 2d viewing or very close. For me it's a perfect addition for 3D viewing and gaming without having to deal with another large TV since I already have 2 large 2D tvs but one is never got used anymore and sits in storage due to a recent move. For pp who are thinking of getting an used 3D tv now, I think you might want to consider 3d projector as an alternative. I don't have any 3D 4K content so 4K is not a requirement and this HD28HDR is only 1K for 649USD which is about half of what I paid for the 1070w 6 yrs ago, so it was an easy decision for me.

Are you using DLP glasses or Nvidia glasses?
I remember that both here and on the old forums there have been mixed reports of getting the Nvidia glasses working.
It's important to me because Optoma seem to have removed the 3d sync connector on the later projectors and I'd rather use IR of RF than DLP Link.

has anyone tried the european short throw version of the projector HD29HST(looks like GT1080HDR)?
The manual only lists HDMI 1.4 and 1.3 3D modes and resolutions and in the specs on the Optoma page it shows the 3D only at the HDMI 1.4 Port.
Connections: 1 x HDMI 2.0, 1 x HDMI 1.4a 3D Support + MHL
Does the HDMI 2.0 port output 3D?

Or is there maybe a short throw version of the UHD42(european uhd 50x) coming?

Just for clarification, did you actually try the Nvidia glasses at all? Or do you not have access to any? I was hoping to establish if the Nvidia glasses can be made to work.

Nvidia glasses work for me if I run the game through the 3D Fix Manager. for some reason did not work with CyberLink PowerDVD 18. projector HD29HST americ. version GT1080HDR. They don't have 3d sync.

I just bought it. 3D works 120 hertz through 3D Fix Manager along with nvidea glasses. I did not check without nvidea glasses.

1. Yes, on the OLED Tvs (not me though).
2. HDR is rubbish on most projectors. Also, HDR game support is pretty useless on Windows.
