ATI/AMD open-sourcing their 3D drivers

Post by chilledsanity »

Not strictly S-3D, but I saw this on slashdot:

http://linux.slashdot.org/linux/08/12/30/0337204.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I may be reaching here, but I'm hoping like hell this opens up the possibility for someone to develop working shutterglasses drivers (on ATI cards anyway).

I think this will make it easyer to devellop an s-3D driver, the NVIDIA one is also hanging into the driver (or?)

Seems to me that the news is for Linux only. Are they open-sourcing their Windows driver too (I haven't read anything about that)? Since most games are on Windows, seems like this wouldn't help much unless they open-source their Windows driver.
