Don't know if android users really are smarter until a similar test has been done on the android platform.

By now there are also floating (and waterproof) cells. That principle has to be overall better since they don't sink deep enough to be ruined by high waterpressure. If dropped into the water they're also easier to be found (cross fingers, call it and listen above surface ).
