Minecraft Windows 10 Edition? Java

I know there is a fix for the Java edition of Minecraft, at least 1.7.1 - 1.10.2 I think was the last update supported. Anyone know if it can be played in 3D with the Win 10 Edition?

It would be better for a number of reasons, not least being that the rest of the world runs the latest versions including Java.

I swear I remember playing it in 3D, perhaps that was on phone (S8) in VR. Since there is an anaglyph mode and vr mods, you'd think stereo 3D would be available too.
