My last racing experience was using a 2D Mitsubishi in what I call "lifesize" mode (@1920 x1080P) and what I want is what I had before, but in 3D. I would love to have 4K resolution, but realistically that is still some years out, so something 1920 x 1080P is what I'm gunning for.
"Lifesize" is achieved, in this case by careful tweaking and measurement of the racing sims themselves, so that the various onscreen elements lie, directionally at what would be the correct angle (both horizontally and vertically), were they actually real.

If you look carefully at the beginning as he climbs into the cockpit of this single-seater you can see the projected image (the screen itself in fact) lies just behind the wheel and what would be the instruments--his legs stick out through the screen onto the car pedals. I used for quite a few years exactly the same sort of rig myself and can always go back to it in 2D, but given that 3D projectors are now available at decent prices, it seems silly to miss out. I'd like to try it in 3D, and don't mind wearing silly glasses if that's the way to go these days.
Assume I can tweak the racing software itself for factors like "Field of View," and can similarly adjust the projector position overhead back and forth to acheive "true lifesize"....
So...do I want a "PC Ready" projector using active shutter glasses? Or something using a passive system?
