Philips 3D Autostereoscopic TV Requires No Glasses!

Post by Silversurfer »

"Philips unveiled their 56-inch 3D display yesterday that packs a Quad Full HD resolution (3840x2160). Wired says the autostereoscopic display requires no glasses and is able to support such a high resolution because of its high data throughput rates. Those high rates also allow for a 3D effect that is high contrast, silky smooth and has a viewing angle of 160 degrees. Early word is that these displays will cost upwards of $25000, and will mostly exist in the commercial space. [Wired]

yup 2 different 3d news in one day is pretty awesome :) I do wonder what drivers this tv will use...
even if it will run only adverisements and stuff it will still be amazing since I can't afford one anyways and this, when
strategically placed will surely attract people and get em interested in stereo3d.
Oculus Rift / 3d Sucks - 2D FTW!!!

More buzz for 3Ds always a good thing.

"Toshiba and Sanyo have previously said they are also working on competing autostereoscopic technologies."

Interesting, I hadn't heard that before. Both companies are known for having affordable products. Probably a good sign of things to come.
