IRACING not recognizing my RIFT :(

Post by Mattijs »

Got a three month 15usd subscription for it once i read it supports RIFT natively now.
It should normally ask if i want to use the rift. It doesn't. There's no options to fiddle with?
Anybody any idea?

The patch that added Oculus Rift support back in came out today. Pretty neat, I had to disable some of the UI elements but quite a fun experience.

There was a snafu with WinXP not being able to run iRacing while linked to the oculus DLL, which apparently has been resolved. I just played it for the first time today, and this is by far the biggest sell on the potential of VR of anything I've seen to date. My mini review (I think you may need to be an iRacing member to see it): http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts ... ge#7286975 . Everyone go find a coupon code and buy a month. Its only worth it if you own a steering wheel, but still. This IS what VR was made for, IMO.

Thank you! Worked without any issues (and Cadilac doesn't check if your contact informations are valid, they just email you the code!)

Tried it now too...while it has perfect oculus compatibility i found you really only can drive these things with a steering wheel i guess.
The xbox controller is a no go

There is a way to get the Xbox controller to work a little better, but this game/sim really does demand a steering wheel and pedals for the best experience. If you are into racing games you can pick up a Logitech DFGT for probably $40 used locally or I think like $80 brand new.

It makes it SO much better.

@ Lark & Dakor: that promo code is great, but its probably worth mentioning that you need to sign up with a credit card or paypal account, and that they will start to bill you after those 3 months are up (if you don't cancel beforehand).

Mine worked right away on Windows 7. I installed iRacing, then plugged in the rift. I had a little issue with a black screen at first, I think 3dVision must be disabled.

iRacing sees my Rift only after I replug the USB. This is every time after booting up and starting iRacing, now I just replug the USB after windows has loaded and all is fine.

That's how my rift works with everything. Slightly annoying but I'm not complaining.
