I've been snooping this forum for some time and based on what I've read here and elsewhere have just bought an IZ3D. Big thanks to all of you, your discussions, comparisons and ramblings helped me decide to take the plunge and buy some S-3d hardware.

I'll try to keep the first thoughts paragraph short; As for 2d the screen is great, my unprofessional comparison to a iiyama screen finds it more vibrant, there's a great feeling of clarity and the surface inst too reflective as i have heard. Having been on a Diablo 2 spree the only 3d games I had installed were Audio Surf and Painkiller. Painkiller works well, the weapons feel closer than the surroundings and inside rooms i get a good feeling of depth. Audio surf didn't work as well, I probably need more time to get used to the settings, I'm sure in time I'd be able to get better results from painkiller too. I installed Guild wars again, took less than 30 seconds reducing the separation to an acceptable point and thoroughly enjoyed the next few hours of playing. Separating the HUD into a separate 2d layer floating above the 'world'. Overall the game works brilliantly and I'm very happy with my purchase. I would of been a lot less pensive about my purchase had screens of GW been online, I'll add my own to the site gallery soon.

Unfortunately I find TF2 and any of the other orange box games don't run while i have the driver active. Uninstalling the driver fixes the issue so i'm fairly sure its whats causing the problem. I'm using forceware 175.19 and Iz3D 1.08. Other source engine games work, just not the orange box. Is there a known bug or a way to make them work?

Also how do i turn auto convergence on for a game? How well does this option work in games with a zoom in/out on the camera?

hi and welcome to the world of stereo3d! congratz on getting an iz3d monitor as well. The orange box issue is solved by turning off some steam community thing. search the iz3d forums at http://forum.iz3d.com/ for that topic. Hope that was of help, cheers!

Hello Witty!
Actually the problem with Orangebox games is not only always because of the Community. I play TF2 all the time with community running.

The bug we have with orange box games, is that the in-game resolution must match the desktop.
So, if the desktop is 1680x1050, you must go in TF2 and set the resoultion to 1680x1050 as well.

This should solve you issues :)

Autoconvergence is as simple as hitting '\' on the NUMPAD.

The way it works, is first you get the setting exactly as you want them, then turn AutoConvergence on, and then when you zoom in and out from a character, it should autofocus on them. There is a delay, and the default can be quite slow, but it can be adjusted in the config.xml file.

It can be found here on XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\iZ3D Driver
(Make sure you have windows set to show hidden files/folders)

The setting you want to change is this:
<ShiftSpeed Value="1" />

Set it up as high as you like (Higher means more performance loss) I recently set it to 20 for demoing UT2004 in 3rd person spectator mode without any slowdown, and it was an almost instant focus.

So, give that a try :)

Thank you for your interest, and choosing iZ3D.
Have a great day!

Thankyou both, TF2 looks amazing - i can cope with much more separation than in HL2, probably because the cartoon look has an emphasis on outlines. I'll play about with auto convergence sometime soon, being able to use camera scroll again will help.
